@jonfavs @atrupar @EmmaVigeland @WIRED The Right is dumping money on influencers all damn day, (and has been for decades), while the Left is clutching pearls at the mere thought of paying for influence. Jesus Christ no wonder we’re losing

Wired absolutely has earned that reputation. I admire (and rely on!) their reporting - also glad they added some clarifications.
I think the video above, from a progressive creator who's been quite critical of Israel and the Democratic Party, does an excellent job conveying why the piece is dishonest, so I'd encourage folks to watch it.
This is a 6-month training program for progressive creators that pays them an $8k/month stipend while they learn best practices and get to connect with other influencers/activists/politicians.
They are not paid to "push the party line," as the headline suggests, and no one - including the reporting in the piece - has proved otherwise. Calling on Chuck Schumer to step down is not "pushing the party line."
These creators can clearly express whatever opinions they'd like about politics and the Democratic Party. They can interview whoever they'd like. They can tell people they're part of the program. The contract asks them to give Chorus a heads-up on these things first. Seems like pretty standard legal stuff.
It's totally legit if people don't like the politics of a lot of the creators involved - too centrist, DNC shills, BlueAnon, etc. etc. Also legit to dislike a campaign finance system where 501c4s don't have to disclose their donors. But the lefty creator above makes a solid argument as to why she chose to participate, and I personally think it'd be fantastic if more creators - from the far left to the center left - were able to receive the financial and professional support to succeed. Those of us who don't want fascist oligarchs to win need all the help we can get!!
But the entire framing of this piece - from the headline to the insinuations to the missing context and details - is what makes it, in my opinion, wildly dishonest.
Not gonna keep getting in a back and forth over this on Twitter (God help me) but I respect your work, respect so many of the people involved on both sides of this, and as someone who founded a progressive media company, have a strong interest in supporting and building up the entire lib/left ecosystem, regardless of where people stand on the left side of the spectrum.

The @wired piece is wildly dishonest and I’m truly surprised they published it

IMO this is the most detailed response from a member of chorus to the article. It focuses less on Taylor and more on the arguments which i appreciate. You shoud come to your own conclusion but I this lays out an opposing argument for public comparison

@OC_Scanner Reporting in from Maui. One of my kids has spent the last 3 hours on the road upcountry from the beach. A ride that usually takes 35 mins. The roads are horrendous

Remember folks,
It’s not just the wave height that matters for the tsunami incidents, a 1 m wave does not sound too bad, but you have to remember that wave is traveling at speeds and excess of a few hundred miles an hour sometimes. The damage comes from the force of the water. #Tsunami

@MCCCANM What’s with the passengers carrying their bags out with them?! I thought that wasn’t allowed?

Tough call to blow the slides. Can’t really criticize anyone for doing so.
We brief what we’ll do in an evacuation on every flight. Here is my Captain’s brief:
“I’ll go to the back of the jet, then sweep forward to make sure nobody is left behind. When I get there, we go down the slides & start counting heads, herding the cats & watching for fire trucks.”
“Counting heads” means I want to verify all passengers & crew have made it off the jet.
“Herding cats” means passengers will be scared & scattered, doing random things, and we need them to stay together.
“Watching for fire trucks” refers to the unfortunate possibility that passengers will be hit & killed by responding fire vehicles…as has happened in multiple instances. Especially if they’ve wandered off & are doing the “herding cats” thing.
Anyway, glad this all worked out safely!

@GregRenoff Great combo vibe of VH + Sammy. SH deserves his memories, and gets to create a tribute song to EVH as he sees fit. Alex or Wolf get to have their own memories and tributes too. However they see fit. None of them owes any of us (or each other) an obligation to do it any other way.

On the new Sammy Hagar tune
I get the negative reactions: it’s exploitative of EVH, calculated, etc.
But I really like it. It has a OU812 vibe.
The EVH intro did get me in the feels. Hard to believe he’s gone.
I’ll take it on face value - it’s a 🙏 to EVH from SH for being his collaborator bandmate & friend.

@lxeagle17 It’s an insider game here. Remember how small it is, geographically and in terms of population. That plus full D control of pretty much everything.

It is so monumentally embarrassing that I am finally getting into Christianity because it's the only way I can quit vaping.
I am more of a general deist/ feel like god is physics/ math / sees itself thru our eyes kinda vibe in terms of what I "actually think" (the universe is also probably dead and empty except yeh idk prob not ngl)
but there really is something in here that at least speaks to me and what is strange is I never truly needed it until I had to stop myself from doing something destructive. I don't usually have a drive that overrides my central nervous system that wants to do smthn as destructive as vaping (so so soooo lame)
This has rly been sending me into a philosophical tailspin tho cuz I have never ever ever had my mind even remotely accessible to religion like I distinctly was extremely doubtful abt it in like grade 1 before I could even be introduced to the concept of doubting it
But I am realizing art in and of itself is possibly what god is. The story you tell yourself is very powerful
