I was recently asked by a representative from The Daily Citizen to explain why I believe I am the best candidate for State Representative in District 58. While I’m unsure what might be edited for space before it’s published, I want to share my full response here for everyone to read directly. With early voting underway, I don’t want to wait for it to be printed in the paper before sharing it online. If my message resonates with you, please help spread the word by sharing it with family, friends, and neighbors in Searcy, Kensett, and Higginson!

The current Arkansas Secretary of State (SoS) blocked all of these ballot initiatives and he is now running for Treasurer. If he wins treasurer, Sarah Sanders gets to hand pick his SoS replacement. You can stop this from happening! Go vote and vote @JohnPaganAR for Treasurer!

Breaking news: A divided Ark. Supreme Court has rejected the medical marijuana amendment, departing from years of precedent on ballot measure language. Votes on the measure will NOT count, thanks to two special justices appointed by Gov. Sarah Sanders. arktimes.com/news/cannabiz/…

I am the only candidate in District 58 committed to working for the common good. You deserve a representative who will never hide from or ignore the concerns of the people they serve. I will represent everyone in our district—not just those who share my political views. I will be a true public servant, not a self-serving politician. I’m asking for your vote to be that representative. Together, we can build a better, brighter future for all Arkansans.

This election, you won't just be voting to elect politicians, but Arkansas allows us to vote directly on some issues through direct democracy. I'm sharing a link for you to learn more about the issues you will be voting on. This guide includes the issues as well as information why some groups are for and against each. As Election Day gets closer, I want to take a moment to explain how I plan to approach legislation, voting, and keeping you informed if I’m elected as your representative. 1. Reading and Understanding Bills: I believe it's my responsibility to read virtually every bill before I cast a vote—especially major ones with significant impacts on our state, like the LEARNS Act. I’ve seen firsthand what happens when legislators don’t fully understand the legislation they vote on. During a townhall with educators, both Rep. Les Eaves and Sen. Jonathan Dismang admitted they hadn’t read the full LEARNS Act before voting on it. In contrast, I read all 144 pages twice in one evening and only then formed my opinion about the bill. You deserve a representative who will do the homework, not just follow party lines or pressure from leadership. The norm will be that I read legislation before voting on it and the exception will be very rare. 2. Consulting the Experts: While I can’t poll constituents on every single bill I will be asked to vote on, I will make it a priority to reach out to the people most affected by specific pieces of legislation. Farmers should have a say in farm bills, doctors and nurses should help shape healthcare bills, law enforcement should weigh in on criminal justice bills, and teachers should be consulted on education policies. I won’t assume to know what’s best without listening to the people directly impacted. 3. Communication and Transparency: One of the biggest issues I see is that many representatives don’t communicate effectively with their constituents and is an area I have heard that the people in District 58 want to see improvement. I plan to change that by issuing regular newsletters during legislative sessions. These newsletters will keep you informed about the bills being considered, my stance on them, and why I’m voting the way I am. It will also give you an opportunity to share your thoughts and opinions with me on those important issues. You shouldn’t have to dig through government websites to figure out what’s happening—I’ll make sure you know. My goal is to be as open and transparent as possible so you feel confident that I’m working in your best interests. I’m running to represent you, not special interests or a political party. That means keeping you informed, being honest about my decisions, and always being willing to listen—even when we disagree. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to continuing these conversations with you! #AR58 #arpx

We love hearing Trevor’s stories about canvassing! He is the right man for the job! He cares about being a true representative for the people of District 58. He’s showing the people that their voices matter and that he is willing to take time to consider their concerns & wishes.

Tales from the Campaign Trail (10/9): It's been a few days since my last update. I have been busy with the high school robotics team and getting caught up on end-of-the-grading-period tasks for school. Despite my busy work schedule, I’ve still carved out time to meet with voters across the district. 1. A coworker graciously offered to allow me to place a campaign sign in her yard. I hadn't canvassed her neighborhood yet, so I used the opportunity to knock on some doors while I was there. 2. One gentleman doesn't typically get political. He shared that he doesn’t like either presidential candidate and has felt his voice and concerns have never mattered. That changed when I knocked on his door and genuinely listened to him. He told me that while he doesn’t want to cast a vote for president, he is willing to vote for me because I made the effort to hear him out and understand his concerns. This is exactly why I’m running—to ensure every voice is heard, especially from those who have felt left out of the process. 3. A conservative couple shared that they have a long record of voting mostly for Republicans, but after talking with me briefly about key local issues, like healthcare and education, they said they are reconsidering who to vote for in the race for state representative. Conversations like these are crucial because we need leaders who focus on solutions that work for everyone, regardless of political party. 4. A few households in different neighborhoods expressed appreciation for my personal approach of knocking on doors and introducing myself. They told me that for this reason alone, they’ll vote for me. The personal touch matters. Voters want to meet the candidate, not just get mailers or see yard signs. I will always make the effort to meet with and listen to the community members I hope to represent. 5. A Democrat was happy to see me and said I had her vote. She appreciated that my campaign focuses on unity and coming together for the common good rather than pushing a one-sided political agenda. She misses the days when politicians worked across the aisle to get things done for the people. Her words reminded me of why I’m running—it's about building bridges, not burning them. 6. Another lady greeted me warmly and only had one question—who was I running against. I told her I’m running against Les Eaves, and she stopped me right there. She said, “You’ve got my vote,” and wished me the best of luck in the campaign. This interaction shows that people are ready for change and are eager to see new leadership. 7. Last night, I attended the White County Farm Bureau’s annual meeting and dinner. Many of the state representatives from White County were there, and I had pleasant conversations with Representatives Cameron Cooper and Wayne Long about high school robotics. We also discussed tomorrow’s meeting at the state capitol, where several high school robotics teams from around the state are coming together to promote a new bill that will create grant opportunities to grow competitive robotics programs across the state. They seem very intrigued and interested in stopping by if their schedule allows. I also wanted to chat briefly with Representative Les Eaves, but unfortunately, I couldn’t catch him before he left. Growing opportunities for Arkansas students, especially in technology and robotics, is something I’m passionate about. It’s an investment in our future and is definitely something I want to see more students from across the state be able to have the opportunity to participate in. This campaign is about connecting with people and ensuring their voices are heard. Whether it's through conversations at the door or collaborative efforts to improve education, I’m committed to making a positive difference in the lives of all Arkansans. If we haven’t met yet, I look forward to it.

What’s happening in Crittenden County is abhorrent. The Republicans on the election commission there are trying to stop early voting from occurring in West Memphis-the largest city there and largely African American. It’s an attempt at voter suppression to steal an election.
