@GuertinJ @HermannNabi1 @LaurentAzoulay0 I don't think immortal bias is the culprit here. The analysis seem to account for the age at which people become politicians. Confounding bias may explain part of the association (health as you mentioned, education and socioeconomic status also come to mind).

New study finds: politicians tend to have lower mortality levels, in both relative and absolute terms, than the general populations. And this mortality differentials widened considerably over the second half of the 20th century in all countries. See here link.springer.com/article/10.100…
