Well done Greece 🇬🇷.
Greece’s highest court has issued a landmark ruling: animals must be made unconscious before they are killed.
This ends a long-standing exemption that allowed slaughter while animals were still fully aware. The court based its decision on animal welfare law and said the goal is to reduce suffering at the moment of death.
In plain terms, animals cannot be killed while they are awake and able to feel pain. Any slaughter method that skips the step of making the animal unconscious is affected. That includes some halal and kosher practices, though not all halal methods avoid stunning. Slaughter remains legal, but the animal must not be conscious when it happens.
Supporters call this a major step toward reducing cruelty and updating animal protection standards. Critics say it interferes with religious traditions and the freedom to practice them. The court chose to prioritize animal welfare, saying preventing unnecessary suffering comes first under current law.
Whether people agree or not, the message is clear: if animals are killed for food, it must be done in a way that reduces pain and fear as much as possible. Many say this change is long overdue and reflects what we now understand about animal suffering.

Can you see her sadness ?
Can you see her agony?
Can you see her pain?
#LiveVegan don’t take part in abuse 🙏

Donkeys are among the most abused animals on this planet.
Across the world, they are forced to carry loads far beyond their capacity, beaten when they slow down, and left to suffer without rest, food, or care. Their bodies break… but they are made to keep going.
And the most painful part this continues even today, when there are so many humane alternatives available.
They are gentle, hardworking, and silent sufferers who endure unimaginable pain without a voice to protest.
How much more do they have to suffer before we choose compassion?
We need awareness. We need accountability. We need change.
Be kind. Speak up. Because they cannot.

I reunited with Sunshine who I met 2 years ago after she had fallen off a truck on the way to a slaughterhouse (and now lives in bliss at @RosiesFS). 😍
In 2023, I held her in my arms. Now, she's grown HUGE so holding her is out of the question now. 🥲

@RepMaxwellFrost Amazing news! We need to do the same for the factory farming industry

GOOD NEWS: Sloth World has been shut down and will not open!
The 14 surviving sloths have been moved to the Central Florida Zoo for proper care.
Thank you to local officials, everyone who reached out to my office, and advocates who helped bring this to light. I’ll keep fighting for accountability and animal welfare.

I am appalled to hear about the 31 sloths who died under the “care” of the not yet opened Sloth World in Orlando. These sloths — naturally solitary animals — were put in the worst conditions possible. They were taken from their natural habitats to a packed warehouse that wasn’t properly heated and allowed for the spread of deadly viruses, leading to a stress-induced death. My office is looking into this tragedy, and we will coordinate with local officials to determine how to best move forward. fox35orlando.com/news/31-sloths…

📍Rishikesh, Uttarakhand
This is the heartbreaking reality for many working animals in India. 💔 Forced to work their entire lives, only to be abandoned on the streets when they fall sick or grow old. Is this how we repay a lifetime of service? We need better protection and retirement for these silent workers. #AnimalCruelty #India @PMOIndia

I don’t even know what to say anymore.Watching a helpless donkey/pony being forced to pull loads far beyond its capacity… and then being beaten mercilessly while doing so this is not just cruelty, this is brutality at its worst.
How can someone be so heartless? And the audacity to film it and post it on Instagram like it’s something to be proud of? This is beyond disturbing.
We live in a time where there are alternatives e-rickshaws, small transport vehicles, so many humane options yet some people still choose to exploit these innocent animals and torture them for their own convenience.
This is not tradition. This is not livelihood. This is abuse.
I don’t know whether such people need strict punishment, counseling, or something even stronger but this cannot be ignored. There has to be accountability.
These voiceless souls suffer in silence, carrying pain we cannot even imagine. Seeing this breaks my heart and fills me with anger at the same time.
If anyone has details about the location or the people involved, please come forward. This needs to be reported and stopped.
Because if we stay silent, we become part of the cruelty.
This is not humanity. This is disgrace
