It is with profound sadness that I regretfully confirm that OPP Sergeant Brandon Malcolm was killed in the line of duty along Highway 401 in Cobourg this evening. We honour his service and bravery as we grieve this tremendous loss. We extend our deepest condolences and mourn alongside his loved ones and OPP colleagues across the province. #HeroesInLife

**UPDATE - Homicide Investigation** On April 10, 2026, at 12:52 am, police were called to a Lambton College campus bar for a report of gunfire. Upon arrival, police located three injured parties, one with life-threatening injuries and two with non-life-threatening injuries. The seriously injured male, a 20-year-old Sarnia man, was transported to Bluewater Health for emergency treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was later pronounced deceased. This has now been classified as an ongoing homicide investigation.  Officers are expected to be on scene for an extended period. There is no one in custody at this time. The SPS thanks the community for the many thoughtful ideas, feedback, and, recently, even building project designs. As we continue to seek long-term solutions to our facility challenges, we wanted to share a recent submission that caught our eye. Inspired by a self-affirmed local policing expert, this design encapsulates the “fortress” vision without compromising the “ego project” aspect. The building maintains the contemporary features and inadequacies of the 1987 original, except with the addition of accessible front steps that meet modern AODA requirements. We appreciate the thought that has gone into this compelling design and will be submitting it to the SPS Board for their consideration. #AprilFools #EmpireBuilding

ROAD CLOSURE: #LambtonOPP - West Lambton Line between Baseline Road and Salisbury Road, west of Highway 40, in St. Clair Township is currently closed for several hours due to downed hydro lines. Emergency responders are on scene and no injuries have been reported. With high winds, rain, and snow moving through the area today, motorists are reminded to slow down, drive cautiously, and adjust to road conditions. Updates will be provided when available. ^jr

Only in the @CountyofLambton.... While conducting school zone patrol in Camlachie, a #LambtonOPP officer encountered a very determined local resident, a wild turkey, who appeared to have something to say. The officer remained in the area to ensure students arriving at school stayed safe around the presence of the turkey and that it wasn’t the kids being chased. As the officer eventually cleared the area, the turkey was observed chasing the cruiser down the road, possibly in an attempt to continue the conversation…or request to speak with a supervisor. Thankfully, all students made it safely to school, and the turkey has since resumed its neighbourhood patrol duties. #SchoolZoneSafety ^jr

Plane Crash The Sarnia Police Service, along with @SarniaFire and @LambtonEMS are on scene in the area of Telfer Road and Michigan Line tending to a downed aircraft. The pilot will be transported to the Bluewater Health Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. There were no other passengers on the flight. Please avoid the area as emergency crews will be in the area for an undetermined amount of time. ^jl
