@ahistoryinart I never get tired of looking at them - or lose the sense of wonder at the way the brushstrokes and paint blobs (I'm sure there must be a better technical term!) dissolve into the fabulous lustres on the cups and tea pots when you step back.

@DentedSaint They are beautiful, he had such a way of creating harmony and most are masterful explorations of perspective and form.

'The Brass Kettle.' (1904) Édouard Manet was Fergusson's idol here, and the many studies and paintings he made throughout this period show his adoption of Manet's style – in terms of colouring, but also fluidity of paint and brushstrokes.

@ahistoryinart Cadell also did fabulous tableware - one of my favourite things to go and gaze at when I'm in Kelvingrove. Always a source of joy!

It is not usual to see Heather Copley's paintings (this is West London, 1950) wrongly catalogued as work by Carel Weight, he was one of her tutors at the Royal College of Art after WW2, a period where the teaching allowed scope for imaginative composition.
