Grafana 10 brings new updates to #grafonnet . While the old library is still functional(and from now on is deprecated), the new one gives more power in writing dashboards as a code using #jsonnet
Started experimenting with it. Lets see what we can

Grafana 10 brings updates to #grafonnet - the jsonnet library for generating Grafana dashboards! It's still one of the best way to write DRY dashboards as a code, I think. Am I wrong? github.com/grafana/grafon… Thanks @grafana! Cool stuff.

Indeed , #jsonnet is a brilliant by design. The most I like is that it is hermetic. The output is always stable and reproducible:)

@DenysD6 Indeed, it is very much DIY and debugging a typo is a pain. The language is brilliant though 👌 what I was referring to is the ecosystem of libs that’s poorly maintained/hard to (re)use which block massive adoption. It can be used for so many things: k8s, terraform, … too bad

I have a theory why #jsonnet never took off.
Every repository out there containing jsonnet has a big warning sign:
"Note that everything is experimental and may change significantly at any time."
The language is great though but really hard to maintain and read. Too bad.

@Vikstrous Thank you for sharing your experience. I used it only for Grafana dashboards authoring. Recently start using #cuelang for writing k8s configuration files. And is really happy with that.

@elonmusk I see you should include several additional points. Give back Alaska to Russia. Also five back Fort Ross to Russia. As it was before.
Or just check the history of Crimea and Ukraine. Crimea never has been a russian state. It was occupied by russian empire. The same as Ukraine
