⚾ ASTROS @ NATIONALS | 6:45 PM ET Spencer Arrighetti vs Foster Griffin Arrighetti leads with a nasty curveball, solid K stuff, and has been effective at limiting hits. However he's looked much worse recently and has allowed a ton of HRs; 7 in his last 3 starts. - His splits are overall worse against lefties, notably posting a 15% BB rate against batters from that side. This Nationals lineup has struggled with the curve, which could prove tough for them, but other than that they've been a top 3 offense in the MLB through their last 7 starts. Luis Garcia has continued to be incredible vs RHPs but James Wood in particular has been on one; 5 HRs in his last 8 games. Griffin is having a suprisingly great season with a 2.87 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 24% K rate. Has been even better recently with a sub-1 ERA and WHIP, 28% K rate, and .157 AVG allowed. - The splits here are a little worrisome though... Griffin is lights out vs lefties but substantially worse against right-handed hitters. The Astros stack 8 of 9 bats from the right side and have looked good vs lefties in recent games, recording 5 and 4 ER vs their 2 most recent opposing LHPs. 👀 Watch: Griffin is the much better arm overall but the matchup scares me a bit. The Astros pen is the better group but is really taxed right now, using 6 arms yesterday. Pretty tough to call a side but expect runs from both offenses.
