@GoodwinMJ The bigger story should have been Africans found in c. 13th London given there's no direct evidence of such. DNA analysis might have provided stronger evidence than phrenology...but the researchers know this already. The BBC emphasis on 'Black women most affected' belies a bias
English

I find this rather sad. I'm not sure the BBC even realises how much it is damaging it's own brand now.

@KonstantinKisin @DouglasKMurray Frank Herbert: "When I am weaker than you, I ask you for freedom because that is according to your principles; when I am stronger than you, I take away your freedom because that is according to my principles."

...the thousands of people "protesting" will become tens of thousands. And as the problem gets worse, pointing it out and demanding action will only become more dangerous.
@DouglasKMurray was right. Europe has committed suicide.

It's so weird that people project what they want onto me. I have never had any investment in either side. I don't care for Russia and don't want them to invade Ukraine, but I also don't want to bankrupt ourselves over ethnic Russian areas of Ukraine that Russia wants.

@DylanBurns1776 No point arguing. Sargon wants Russia to win because it helps the right wing fantasy of a strongman dictator to tell them what to do

Hi there @flora__bowen
Odd that you didn't feel it necessary to reach me for comment when writing a story about me, and only featured the claims of my interlocutor?

@NJ_Timothy But our economic model is predicated on untrammeled immigration to provide a sufficient workforce to support the UK populace in its dotage

@Sargon_of_Akkad @WEP_UK It really doesn't matter if it's nature or nurture, the fact is men dominate the upper echelons of chess, and the barriers to compete in women's events are lower. FIDE are looking to try and remove any arbitrage and abuse of this dynamic
English

@WEP_UK Anyone with an ounce of real-world experience knows men and women think differently. I'm sure there are numerous studies that back this up but I don't care to find them because this is such a self-evident truth.

I find it odd that many conservatives seem to be seeking validation from the Barbie movie. I didn't know anything about it before watching some right-wing reviews today because I am just not interested in it, and only watched those to see what all the fuss was about.
I see Barbie as a gendered property that is for women and not for men, in the same way zero women cared about Kevin Smith's He-Man reboot. Any meaning it would contain would not be something I would need, as I don't need instruction on how to be a woman.
Conservatives critiquing Barbie seem to presuppose that the movie *should* have something in it for them and that they are entitled to expect messaging that appeals to men; the critiques of the story seem to subconsciously fall on the grounds of the movie in some way failing to live up to expectations.
My expectations would be that its it's a movie for girls, so why would I care? I assumed they pumped out a Barbie-like movie every year to harvest the purses of young women by giving them whatever kind of story they want and I just never heard about it, in the same way the Fast and the Furious is on installment 4,573 to milk the Deanos of their money.
If the right-wing synopsis is accurate, then it probably is indeed just anti-male feminist propaganda, but so what? What isn't these days? I don't see why Barbie is special in this regard.
Moreover, there is something demeaning about conservative men being excessively bothered about a movie for women. We are surely expecting nothing good from it, we were not going to watch it, and the people who made it don't care about our opinions on it. Why give it the time of day? Don't we have better things to do? It's a movie based on girls dolls to propagandise millennial women that no, really, patriarchy totally exists and you made the right choice in becoming an aging childless feminist. Go get drunk and hook up with a guy on Tinder that you hate, good life choice sister. This is why it has so many adult references in it. This is also not a new or novel message.
Being angry, enraged, or "destroying" Barbie just seems sad and needy, and we should hold ourselves to higher standards than this. It takes on the aspect of a spiteful boy kicking in the girl's Wendyhouse because she's not playing how he wants.
A core part of conservative thought revolves around the propriety in gendered social spaces. Things are different between the sexes: a woman's critique of He-Man is as worthless as a man's critique of Barbie. It is appropriate that we have gendered entertainment because of these differences, but it seems that many conservative men have fallen into the mindset of the unisex liberal consuming the current thing and expecting to be a part of the target demographic.
I'm not saying "don't critique Barbie if you are a conservative or a man", but you probably don't need to, and if you do feel it necessary (which it may be, I haven't seen it), then at least approach it with the proper decorum as an outsider who has discovered something novel and wants to reveal its inner workings, and not someone who feels hurt because the girl's movie didn't pander to the boys.

@GSpellchecker Homo is just a prefix, but we still recognise it as a slur
English

No, it's used to signify tribal allegiance to a divisive, nonsensical and harmful ideology. That's when it's not being used as a way to delegitimize someone's voice. The overwhelming majority of the population see through this cult language

“Cis” is just a prefix, used to describe people who identify with the same gender as their birth. It’s no more insulting or made up than describing someone as being straight.
