@Linahuaa McDonald's coffee in China is great & there's free refills, but not HK. And they really struggled in China at first. I've been in small towns and cities with 4 kfcs on the same street.

McDonald's China doesn't have the quarter pounder with cheese because the average Chinese can't afford beef😭 It's all just chicken burgers... Guess that's why KFC is more popular in China than McDonald's..

Mysterious Semblance At The Strand Of Nightmares
Typical Michael Mann movie (or similar) from the 80s has a family living in a house that looks like this in the suburbs and is afforded by the father's police detective salary.

@Babygravy9 One of the comments underneath. Kurds have been causing problems in Japan from what I've seen. We shouldn't have stopped Saddam.

@Landeur It lifts morale & completely changes the trajectory of the country. Atm people can only see the UK going downhill rapidly & that affects everything else: Who in their right mind with a little bit of capital to start a small biz is going to attempt it in the current environs!?

Remigration solves most of our problems. It's not shoe-horning, it's the silver bullet. It restores national spirit, lowers house prices, increases food security, reduces energy demand, lifts wages, reduces crime etc. etc.

High speed rail is simply better than flying. I can decide right now to visit another city and roll up to the train station 10 minutes before departure. I can watch scenery, walk around and have full phone signal the entire journey. The HSR experience is just better!

@nonstopeurotrip I was there from 2008 - 2017 & you could absolutely do that in Shanghai. The only problem was that they had about 40 different windows for buying tkts but would only open about 2 to save money, so 40min wait. But leave 5mins later. I'd buy my tkts at agents in city most times.

It's disingenuous to say to people not familiar with Chinese HSR they 'can turn up 10 minutes before departure time' - as in the vast majority of cases, from the vast majority of stations that tourists will be travelling from (Beijingnan, Hongqiao, Badaling etc) you simply can't.

Brian Cox arguably made it in Hollywood and the film industry because of his classical Scottish looks and manner. Many individuals have, and Hollywood has long sought after Irish-Scottish actors and actresses in productions. These actors have capitalised on that. To then come to Scotland when he doesn’t live here, and support a party which doesn’t even recognise Scottish people, and which is visibly relying on a foreign Vote to stay in power - whilst saying ‘it’s about being a Celt and feeling displaced’ - is truly absurd.

@AcademicAgent_X Jews were actually admired in China for being good at business & making money. People from Wenzhou were known as the Jews of China coz they were the best at biz. China is anti Israel now simply to ingratiate themselves w/ Arabs/Iran to oust US & for oil. I doubt 🇮🇱 attempted this

When some dark skinned peoples behave badly there are some whom are quick to charge ALL black peoples by association for that behaviour. When some white peoples drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima & Nagasaki, kill 1.2 million Vietnamese, cause 100 million deaths in WW1/WW2, kill 300,000 Palestinians, bomb Bosnia, kidnap presidents, murder African leaders, bomb Afghanistan for 20 years, steal Libyan gold reserves, slaughter in Ukraine, bomb fishermen, massacre schoolgirls in Iran, steal countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada slaughtering the indigenous peoples of those countries, deliberately dropping napalm on children, blockading Cuba causing death on a massive scale many state that these actions are the actions of a ‘few white peoples’. Funny that🤷🏽‍♂️ #Funny

@real_lord_miles @JeffreyLuscombe Actually there's a place in Guangzhou about an hour train north of HK called 'Chocolate Town' because there's so many Africans there. But outside of that, very few. Coke dealers in Shanghai. Pests all over SE Asia.

In South Africa I went on a hike in Cape Town to a beautiful lookout, Signal Hill. At the top there was a wine tasting. I then walked down a trail that goes by a military base, to a rich suburb. I was very seriously warned by a local, wealthy, brown-skinned man that multiple hikers had been murdered for their wallets and that I should take a taxi home. Sure enough, when I passed by the military base some black men who clearly didn't belong there were watching me from rooftops. So I got out of there as quickly as possible. At the bottom I continued to walk to my quite nice hotel... and got followed for multiple blocks by a physically aggressive black panhandler who wouldn't take no for an answer. Following that I went on another hike, up Table Mountain under the gondola. Again, it's a highly developed tourist destination. And again, multiple locals warned me that I really shouldn't go alone because there was a good chance I'd be mugged, or worse. Hell, there's official signs up warning hikers to hike in groups of at least three (four if they're women). Following that I visited Johannesburg. Or at least, I would have. Except a South African friend of mine who lives near there said I really shouldn't go to the downtown area by myself least I get murdered. So I skipped that and did more hiking. Again with warnings that travelling solo was a bad idea. ...and don't get me started about how that trip, I saw more rolling power outages in peacetime South Africa then I did at my next destination, wartime Kyiv, while Russia was actively trying to destroy the electricity grid. When I was recently in Kramatorsk, Eastern Ukraine, I had half a day off. So I asked a soldier friend of mine where I could safely walk. He said I could go anywhere safely: military checkpoints would keep me from going too far east. Russians might kill you (just the other day a 13 year old boy was killed by a Russian attack on a market). But even after over a decade of war and poverty the locals won't. And yes, even in Kramatorsk you see young teen girls, by themselves, walking around at night. You do _not_ see that in Cape Town. The problem with Africa isn't just "underdeveloped parts". The problem is the stupid, violent, black population who make even the developed parts shit.

Just to challenge your last sentence. The 'stupid, violent black population' you characterize are people that were initially fucked over by the Apartheid regime and then again by the failures of the corrupt ANC government officials that have run the country since 1995 and looted the state coffers instead of improving education and the economy since. People left in a cycle of unending debt spiral toward chaos. And in South Africa, crime is easy and it pays, so many fall into it. But the context matters because we're all a product of our environment.

@Wandering999 @ChrisMartzWX Mainland China is fairly benign for the most part though Shanghai is scorching & humid in summer. Shandong can get pretty cold & prob really cold farther north u go. HK can get sub tropical storms quite bad & they can get bad flooding in south west.
