A rare India-positive piece in @washingtonpost: “The BJP is consolidating power just as India takes its place among the world’s great powers: largest by population, second-largest by military personnel, on the way to becoming third-largest by economy, and the only nation with the potential to counterbalance China in Asia.”
The piece argues, “More votes have been cast for Modi than for any politician in human history, by a margin in the hundreds of millions. Modi has comfortably outperformed every other democratically elected leader in the world in Morning Consult’s global leader approval tracker for many years, despite the longevity of his tenure.” washingtonpost.com/opinions/2026/…

The people have given a spectacular mandate to BJP and I assure them that our Party will do everything possible to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of the people of West Bengal. We will provide a Government that ensures opportunity and dignity to all sections of society.

Nothing gets past Makkari.
Chloé Zhao’s ETERNALS (2021) follows a group of immortal heroes, including Makkari, the MCU’s first deaf superhero. The film stars Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek Pinault.
This scene meant everything to me.
It broke me both times I watched it. I could not hold back the tears. Maybe it struck something personal, I do not know but the final moment between Jaskirat and his mother felt almost transcendent.
It reminded me of how I felt watching the climax of The Pursuit of Happyness. The way Will Smith moved something within me back then, Ranveer does the same here. And that is rare.
@STUPIDREACTIONS very good. 2 things didnt work for me - Arjun Rampal’s character and final battle felt a bit over the top. Ranveer’s acting was phenomenal. not as good as the 1st one but still a great continuation.
Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Tarun Kumar in Uttam Nagar. It’s heartbreaking that something as small as a child throwing a water balloon during Holi could escalate into such violence. Humanity should never fall to this level. Prayers for his family and hope the culprits face the strictest punishment.
Farhan Akhtar joins the cast of ‘THE BEATLES – A FOUR-FILM CINEMATIC EVENT,’ directed by Sam Mendes.
He will play Ravi Shankar, the Indian sitarist and classical musician who had an influence on George Harrison, and the use of Indian instruments in some of the Beatles’ music.
#IMAX responded to @ssrajamouli request of getting an IMAX.
IMAX says it’s ready. India is ready.
But Hyderabad still waits.
Giovanni Dolci of IMAX tells Variety India they work closely with exhibitors worldwide and India is no exception. IMAX has grown its footprint here by nearly 60% since 2020, and Dolci has earlier said India can support at least 150 IMAX screens. It’s already IMAX’s 7th largest market globally.
Yet, no exhibitor or superstar, not even Varanasi lead Mahesh Babu, has confirmed an IMAX screen in Hyderabad for the film’s 2027 release. A true 1.43:1 IMAX screen looks even less likely, given how time-consuming the process is.
IMAX says it’s open to building more screens, including 1.43:1, with any willing exhibitor.
The intent is there. The question is… who steps up? Fingers crossed.

She's the hero Bangalore deserves, & also the one it needs right now.
She’s a silent guardian, a watchful protector, a dark knight against the society uncles who are going to learn the hard way what happens when they over reach their non-existent owner powers
The breakout hit #Dhurandhar marks a milestone for Bollywood. The industry is finally learning to treat the problem of terrorism seriously. [My take]
