Kicked down our door for an NFL opportunity & then lit it up. Big time!

The #Falcons have agreed to terms with German-born K Lenny Krieg, sources say. One day after he kicked at the NFL’s International Player Pathway program pro day, Krieg visited Atlanta. He had trips to other teams scheduled but signs with the first team that hosted him.

The Relationship Between Strength Qualities & Sprint Acceleration Performance Research from Claire Brady, University of Limerick & the Sport Ireland Institute What strength qualities underpin acceleration speed in field sport athletes? Methods: Field sport athletes (n=26) Speed @ 5/10/20/30m splits Isometric Squat (bilateral) CMJ RSI (10-5 RJT) Headlines: 1⃣ 3 principle components identified in dataset: 🔸Maximal isometric strength & relative iso strength 🔸Explosive strength: Isometric force (<200ms) 🔸Sprint performance & SSC abilities (CMJ, RSI) 2⃣ No relationship was observed between Maximal Isometric Strength (or max. iso relative strength) and sprint performance at any sprint distance 3⃣ Athletes with better Explosive Strength (top quartile in force @ 100ms) had better performance in early phase acceleration (0-5m) than those with poorer explosive strength (bottom quartile athletes in F @ 100ms) 4⃣ Slow SSC Fast Dynamic Strength was sig. correlated with all sprint distances with the strongest relationship observed at 10-20m. The athletes with best CMJ (top quartile) were significantly faster at 10-20m compared with athletes with the poorer CMJ (bottom quartile) 5⃣ Reactive Strength was significantly associated with all sprint distances >5m (10/20/30m) with strongest relationship at 20-30m. The athletes with best RSI (top quartile) were significantly faster at 5-10m, 10-20m and 20-30m compared with athletes with the poorest RSI (bottom quartile)

@clh_strength Coach, do you know by any chance how ProShuttle and L-Cone Drill are timed at the NFL Combine? Hand or Laser?

Any time you hear someone reference a 40 time, please understand the timing mechanism… Thread 🧵👇🏼

@Tony_Villani_ @Humble_Ty19 Question from someone who works and prepares European Athletes: are the ProShuttle and L-Cone Drills Laser or Hand Timed in Indy? Thank you!

How are they timing this year? How are they "adjusting?" @Humble_Ty19 fastest EVER FAT with a 4.36. Kalon Barnes fastest EVER if you go by miles per hour from 20 to 40L. Both of those NO HUMAN ERROR or manipulated by people who deem someone too fast. Yes, I said MANIPULATED.
Coach Hawkins@BrianHawkins4

NFL Combine season is in full swing and “timing” is a hot topic. How rare is sub 4.5 - 40 speed under true FAT timing? Even if we subtracted the fastest reaction time and rounded down to 0.1 seconds, at last year’s US Nike Nationals at the Armory, only 1 of the top finishers would have clocked sub 4.5 in the 40 yd and this is with spikes on a Mondo track. Now remember the Combine doesn’t have a reaction start but if we have data on World Class reaction times like Noah Lyles and Christian Coleman and subtract that from the 40 split, we have some solid data to draw some conclusions. Now keep in mind sprint distances like the 100m, 60m and 55m may have different approaches/strategies to how sprinters approach the race but I’ll differ to others on that. Needless to say, those sprinters competing this weekend in Glasgow and those that make the Olympics are probably the only individuals on the planet that we can say run sub 4.4 40 yard dashes under World Class gold standard timing. Single beam laser timing at the Combine is not the same type of precision we see at the World class level. Now those players that are competing tomorrow and through the weekend are ELITE football players with a combination height, weight and speed that is unparalleled but it’s all about the context of how the sprints are timed that helps us explain the times. @MattWaldman @AthWestchester @Tier1athlete @JoeMento @dhglover @CoachIcy16 @ShotByLJay18

Proofs of our🆕paper on @NSCASCJonline Very important info for coaches seeking to better understand the most recent evidence on 🛷 training & 🔗to practical applications (& solutions). We hope SCCs will find it useful to better design sprinting sessions. Great team effort!🇦🇷🇧🇷🇪🇸

@CatanoPerforma1 @HawkinDynamics Coach, what kind of belt do you use for this? We‘re searching for an option that is comfortable enough to not cause too much pain in the ISO test

This is the culture we built we stopped chasing weight PRs a while ago, our college athletes hyping our 8th grader to get a PR on belt iso is goals 53% in net peak force strength that matters ! 🫡🫡💪🏽🔥🔥🔥@HawkinDynamics

@DevAthletes Had the same issue. Purchased a belt from Spud. Been a game changer. Still going to be a little discomfort but so much better then other belts we’ve used.

The isometric belt pull is the gold standard for measuring strength/force in athletes Doesn't require skill Grip isn't a limiting factor Can perform in 5-10 seconds You can perform this test on day 1 w/ all levels of athletes to assess strength bilaterally & unilaterally

@Coachgriffin88 Tough questions, but definitely true that the S side is way more comfortable for a lot of us. I feel like it's tough to estimate the "optimal volume", especially when a sport is trained almost year round like soccer

When it comes to S&C, the S side of things definitely gets more attention. The C is treated a bit like the annoying little brother 😂 2 questions for S&C coaches: 1 - Do you feel confident programming conditioning? 2 - What resources would you recommend, to help other coaches?

@ADRCoachDev We definitely saw a huge upside from a „conditioning“ perspective when adding more grappling. Our football athletes told us that the first full contact sessions felt less strenuous than the years before

Doing grappling, combatives, quasi-skills in the off-season Might not see a direct, huge, instant improvement but I find you get more high quality training Players are sharper, more accurate, comfortable in the bump & strain Plus don’t get put in hole by early physicality

@StrengthDebates Totally agree. The only times we work with deliberately slow eccentrics or concentrics, are super early in the off-season if we want to improve technique

Slow tempos don’t exist in Olympic lifts Seems like they are some of the most resilient and powerful people out there Slow don’t exist is sprinting, jumping or in sports Slow don’t belong in performance period. Slow meaning purposely slowing eccentric (or concentric)
