Indian Jugaad at its best! This man could have built a successful business around his “secret formula”. In the US he would have filed for a patent! Instead he’s sharing his technique for free on social media! His roof coating reduces in-home temperatures by upto 15 degrees with an investment of less than 1 Rs per square foot.

India sends roughly $110b of net demand to China every year. Assuming you can in-source that manufacturing (eventually) and 30% of that goes to factory payroll, thats $33b in wages. At 2-3lpa salary, that's 10-20mn manufacturing jobs. So you get: - $100b of domestic manufacturing output - millions of jobs - stronger supply chains - lower long-term inflation - higher sustainable gdp... - better infra Another underrated effect is that you can provide jobs and training to millions of youth. Trade short term pain for a long term gain.

indians ended up shoddily learning urbanism from dubai/middle east. babus park their cash in dubai so they travel there constantly and start importing that aesthetic back home. that’s why even the best parts of delhi/mumbai feel like a low budget copy of the gulf: barren layouts, ugly railings, awkward merges, concrete everywhere. the cope is that indian geo is dry - which is not true. pune, mumbai etc are tropical cities. bangalore, chennai etc can be very neatly designed around green canopy cover like singapore. the four asian tigers sg, hk, korea, taiwan evolved very differently. they learned from the brits in hong kong and from japan. british institutional ethos with japanese absolutism around execution and order. that’s why singapore is green and functional without the endless "oh it rains so we must have bad roads" cope of mumbai. all asian cities are green - kl, jakarta, manila... in a cope free world india would learn from singapore. invite their experts, have them help design better city layouts and hopefully push tech transfer around roads, drainage and urban planning. there's no point coping. learn from the best and build.

Wide unencroached footpaths. Landscaping not in the MIDDLE of the footpath. That's it. And we can't do it.

UP and Bihar folks are mocked daily across India. People mock their mere existence because poor guys are migrating out of their state for a decent livelihood. But those states also have a beautiful culture and history like all Indian states. They also have a high culture and elite culture like all of us. I recently met @kamleshksingh and @kuldeepmishra at the India Today studios and the one thing I thanked them for is, via Teen Taal they have made UP and Bihar cool. They may not realise what they're doing as they're part of it as insiders. But I'm really happy to see the good and fun side of UP and Bihar coming out. I couldn't meet @007asifkhan so this is me thanking him too.

if it does well it can induce growth in bihar which is basically the last frontier of the economic puzzle...UP gets its boost from delhi/noida but bihar has been pretty insulated in terms of economic growth. bengal can be a super port and bihar the hub of factories as the brits originally intended

West Bengal was the troglodyte of Indian states. It was turned into a North Korea like economy. The Trinamool Congress ruled by spreading fear and terror among voters. People outside the state really do not appreciate what the opening up of West Bengal to India is going to do. It’s like the fall of the Berlin Wall! I shall be sharing some tweets of all the hard-to-believe stories coming out from the state now. 🧵
