Aye, the one major thing I've seen Burnham do so far I couldn't be happier for is ensuring jury trials aren't scrapped here, or at least it's off the agenda for now. If El Salvador doesn't ensure those treated harshly are deserved of it, the current support for the gov will quickly descend into disdain, and then calls for a change of gov - and perhaps a reversion to old ways. I honestly feel like in 50 years time, cannabis will be decriminalised worldwide and actually have proper recognition for its medical/therapeutic benefit, we're on the right trajectory. The big countries that need to be won over are places like Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Brunei - where death sentence is still possible.

@DeviateDefiant @nayibbukele Yeah likewise it's a tough one but I think the jury solves most of it. Punish harshly but follow due process. El Salvadors problem is they have done away with that. Just basically some innocent's will do to jail but it's a price worth paying. I've never lived in a murder capital

😢 I should do more research before making sweeping statements praising them. I deleted the OP. I do agree with strong punishments for murder/paedophilia, including capital punishment - but that only can work when the justice system prosecutes reasonably, with proportionate action. Cannabis shouldn't be criminalised anywhere in the world IMHO, and there should be no consequence.

@DeviateDefiant @nayibbukele Fair play dude, yup cannabis users are included and treated as criminals. With some reports saying cancer patients died in jail without access to meds, no trial, no right to see family under the same "tidying up the country" laws. For smelling like using cannabis.

@ragabonz @nayibbukele I'll have to put my ignorance on display here. I'm unaware of any cannabis policies in El Salvador, my understanding of the situation was strict punishments for criminals which has spurred on the massive drop in murders. Punishment for cannabis usage makes no sense to me.

In 1988 the government announced plans to demolish the Midland Grand Hotel at St Pancras. It had been empty since 1935. The Gothic stone facade by George Gilbert Scott was considered too expensive to restore. English Heritage spent 15 years fighting to save it. The hotel reopened in 2011. Plenty of predictable howling about Restore Britain's policy of allowing landlords to introduce contained smoking rooms in their pubs. If grown adults want to sit in a room, with the landlord's full permission and backing, to smoke/vape the night away - then it is none of my business to say otherwise. If it's clearly labelled, away from other customers and well ventilated? Go for it. I detest smoking. I would not use these rooms, but should that stop others? No. Of course it's not healthy, but neither is sinking fifteen pints of Guinness in one sitting and we don't ban that. It will give neglected pubs a huge economic boost, and keep hundreds of them operational. Restore Britain firmly believes in personal responsibility and that is reflected in our policy offering.

@NorthEastLass1 @DeviateDefiant @Henbroonthereal Then write it on paper. Most surgeries will have a quiet area for you to disclose issues and will be able to help you privately discuss symptoms. And all surgeries are adopting online triage systems which are very useful for both patients and staff.

It is inappropriate for an NHS receptionist to ask about your symptoms or the reason for your appointment in a public waiting area where other patients can overhear the conversation  It is a breach of patient confidentiality and privacy.  Thoughts

Was paying @VirginMedia £25pm for my 250mb fibre, they upped the price to £65, then after trying to get them to reduce it because it's unaffordable, they offered £41 🤷‍♂️ It's £18 for new customers via @MoneySupermkt. I've been with them for 18 years now, it's finally time to go.

Any company thinking these are acceptable patient information leaflets, entirely misunderstands our #MedicalCannabis market - and the fragile acceptance it's built upon. We can't risk further @MHRAgovuk crackdown, because companies wish to act like they're marketing to children.

@peakay81 @andyburnham That's fair, my home village a few miles down the road is either an hour walk away, or solely dependent on buses/cabs. Those services though are already subsidised by the council, and I'd bet we'd lose more money on reduced ticket prices than we'd recoup from a few extra heads.

@DeviateDefiant @andyburnham If public transport use declines then the service will be reduced. Certain towns and villages once served by trains now reply on buses for those who don't or can't drive. We have to support buses and subsidy has been a part of that forever! who rides on the bus is different

For too long, people have said that cheaper transport isn't an option. I don't accept that. l've done it before and now I'm doing it again: a £2 cap on bus fares for millions across the country.

@peakay81 @andyburnham It's a realistic connection, it's why my neighbours won't ride on the bus any more, we have a massive uptick in local violent crime. It's not in the state or taxpayers' interest to force bus companies to run at a loss and pick up the bill, in a bid to artificially increase use.

@DeviateDefiant @andyburnham That's an extreme connection. Buses aren't like that - the risks from a rare crazy person are the same on a bus, in a plane, walking in the city, being at home.... Your original post was about bus pricing, and lowering prices will increase ridership.

@Jcrispy_ @Henbroonthereal So they're intentionally breaking the law? That's indefensible. If I'm seeing my GP, why would I want to be triaged by an under qualified receptionist and risk my medical information being announced to a waiting room? Just say "no", and only talk to the GP, simple.

@DeviateDefiant @Henbroonthereal They are well aware of the laws and undertake routine training on this. To be able to triage, they need to understand the problem in order to book you in with the appropriate professional. Just ask to discuss in a private area, or use the online triage forms.

@peakay81 @andyburnham People don't feel safe on buses any more after because of the inherent safety issues after so many foreign criminals have been allowed onto our streets. Trying to increase ridership requires trust in safety to be rebuilt, and I only see that really coming from mass deportations.

@DeviateDefiant @andyburnham I think part of the plan is to increase ridership which is declining national. Bus companies are raising prices to compensate which is further reducing users. Reducing and making the price consistent will encourage use. The Lidl model ... Keep costs down and get the customers in
