There is no reason to keep pit bull type dogs legal, but there is plenty of reason to ban them. They are extremely disproportionately likely to bite and to kill. Keeping them around serves no purpose.

American Pit Bull Terriers and American Staffordshire Terriers look identical because they have identical ancestry. They were all bred from early American pit bulls. They're essentially the same breed named differently by two different American dog registries.

@DaVinciSkeleton @xwanyex @TPCarney There are ~ 13,000 hospitalizations per year for all dogs combined, so still not very dangerous. I also dont really think having a mild bite checked out is particularly meaningful morally, and dont think that trumps all the other legal things people do resultung in far more death

No, my claim is that it’s really stupid to have extremely dangerous dogs running around and killing people and that, further, the lives of individual breeds are not all that important, so if we had to kill a bunch of dogs that aren’t dangerous in order to eliminate the dangerous ones, that would be totally fine.
