How to not waste your life. Times vs Years: “It is not that we have a short space of time, but that we waste much of it." –Seneca Money, investments… all important, but LIFE is the only truly valuable thing we get. I was ashamed of how often I let it slip through my fingers because... Life is measured in “times” not years: Measuring in years, life IS long: • I’ve already been alive for 37. • I have 20-30 left with my parents. • Hopefully 60+ with my husband. But we don’t really live life in years, do we? We live it in moments, in “times.” My husband said those 5 words to me that made my worldview flip: “Measure in times not years.” We were debating whether to go home and see our family for Thanksgiving or go on a trip. I’ve never been able to shake what my husband said to me… Let's say your parents are 65. Then it’s not 20 or 30 years you might have left with them. It’s 20 visits. • 1 in 4 Americans don’t live in the same town as their parents. • 7% of Americans live over 500 miles from their nearest close relative. We don’t get the luxury of years with most people we love. We get a finite amount of times. How would your decisions change if you knew you only got to see your loved ones 20 more times? You’d change everything to be with them, wouldn’t you? So much to say So much to learn So much to enjoy... When you only get 20 times. But when those 20 “times” are separated by years... We let them slide through our fingers without protest. Do this exercise (it’s morbid, but it’s meaningful): • Name your most important people. • Estimate how many more times you’ll see them in your lifetime. Now... • Does that # seem high enough? • Build a plan to increase it. • Make each time count. Want to make the most out of life? Don’t count the years. Remember the days… and treasure them.

Good judgment is the compass that guides successful organizations. @CRED_club’s founder and CEO, @kunalb11, stresses the importance of identifying and supporting individuals who exhibit this trait to steer your #team towards effective decision-making and lasting accomplishments.

Defining your startup’s values in the early days is often the last thing on a founder's mind. But, it's a critical task that sets the tone for new team members and aligns them to the company’s culture. Not sure where to start? Here’s some inspiration from @beamcheckout [Surge 07]

Some of the best entrepreneurs I know aren’t the A grade students, they’re the B and the C students. They are the ones who managed to get through their education without having all the risk taking squeezed out of them. It’s unfortunate that in the rat race to get into the best colleges, and then to get into the best grad programs, we’re teaching people that the most important skill is to figure out what the teacher thinks will be the right answer, rather than to follow our own curiosity. But in entrepreneurship, there isn’t a “right answer”. You need to be willing to start down a path without knowing where it’s going.
