Last week I was at a work conference party speaking with old colleagues I hadn't seen since coming out. It took them an hour to realize who I used to be, then immediately the cis girl in the circle was like "Wait what was your name then?"
I just looked at her and said "no. 😒"

one thing i've noticed as a passing trans man about my cis friends is girls will out you to people you don't even know in casual conversation and guys will assume you don't want ANYBODY to know EVER

Worked with all girls today at work and when they asked if I’d ever go to the gym, I said no cause I’m trans and am afraid if getting beaten up. They said if anyone messed with me, they will drop kick them. Remember, it’s the minority if women who are unaccepting and bigoted ❤️

I think about this specific development a lot. Yes, the right worked hard to raise salience and villainize trans people, but this sort of sea change isn't just the result of a focused propaganda campaign.
We lost people, and how we try to get them back matters.

Here's an example of how much ground progressives have lost on trans issues: In 2016, Dems won NC on the back of the bathroom bill's backlash. Those bills were quite unpopular back in 2017! They are now ~20 points above water — 52% for, 33% against. theargumentmag.com/p/the-trans-ri…
