Women in Conservation 💚 Over the years, I have observed how deeply connected the conservation journey is with women of the communities. Women are the backbone of the conservation movement. In villages and communities where women come forward to nurture and protect the environment, Nature thrives. Women are inherently connected to the soil & their hands and hearts breathe life into ecosystems. Bikash Saathi won the Dharitri Climate Grant 2025 for outstanding work in the field of ecological conservation & environmental protection at Dharitri Youth Conclave in November. Their work in protection of horseshoe crabs, creating sustained awareness drives on environmental issues, working in tribal areas to promote sustainable practices, creating awareness on man-animal conflict, and many such initiatives, Bikash Saathi stands tall when it comes to action & impact. It was a delightful interaction with students & faculty of the B M High School Jarada, Angul district. The students were quite aware about the dangers of plastic pollution. The high school has been keeping its premises plastic free for a long time. They had designed and were using a bin made out of plastic bricks at the school premises. The Principal & faculty members were keen on ensuring the students were aware of environmental issues & it showed in the attitude of the students. The women of the village have pledged to keep their village clean & plastic free. They meet every Sunday for their clean green mission.
