Let's talk about #PaperCircuits and how my students actually go about making them. In total, we spent twelve days of class time on this project, (two intro days of lessons and ten days of project time), but there are easy ways to scale it back and make less of a project of it.

The funniest thing about the tomato fruit/vegetable debate is that not only are tomatoes taxonomically a fruit(formed around plant ovary), they are also intuitively a fruit. They're bright red things that grow on vines and are full of juice! What are the vegetablists on about?

@Jd19652005 @ianmiles @IterIntellectus I literally had dinner once with Peter Singer and he said it would be ethical to kill all the predators. Fucking WILD. It was in a room full of biologists too!

@Dharlette @cunningman31 @jacynon Marisha just did such a fantastic job with Laudna. It felt like watching the Darrington brigade again with Hazel copperpot. That was the level of love I had for this character because Hazel was arguably one of the best characters in DB.

not saying that popular critrole highlight making youtuber marisharaygun discontinuing their series at around the exact same time and episode that people "fell off" from c3 has any reflection on how people were consuming the eps in the first place but I'm also not not saying it

@KateMclean99 @cunningman31 @jacynon Their relationship was wonderful! Orym & Dorian work incredibly well together, but we didn't really get to see most of that beyond like...Orym kind of distantly yearning for most of the campaign. I love Fearne as a character, but her romances felt underdeveloped to me

@Dharlette @cunningman31 @jacynon Yes, I enjoyed them both so much. They were just so enjoyable?! I thought I would like Imogen way more than I did. She’s still up there in my top characters. She’s like fourth spot but I loved Laudna.

@KateMclean99 @cunningman31 @jacynon Laudna & Imogen are one of my favorite relationships! They are so deeply supportive of one another that they can border on enabling and I love that for them :)

@Dharlette @cunningman31 @jacynon Totally understand. And I love that we come from it from different perspectives. I mean like my favourite character is Percy that man could do anything can I be like yes King let’s go King. And then I loved Molly and Caduceus. Then Laudna, Chetney and Fearne. But I also loved +

@KateMclean99 @cunningman31 @jacynon I don't mind the Yasha thing so much, mostly because I think it means that they *won't* be having her randomly disappear partway through the next season. My biggest complaint so far is that they had Caleb reveal his SUPER EVIL PAST before any of them have a reason to trust him.

@KateMclean99 @cunningman31 @jacynon Yeah, I think we just prioritize different things in a campaign! For me, the characters matter so much more than the plot, so I'm more forgiving of things like Fjord's ponderous sidestory since it still moves the characters forward.

the way trust is slowly and begrudgingly built between the mighty nein because they all have massive emotional walls vs bells hells desperately wanting and trying to trust each other but they're all ticking time bombs so there's pvp every like 5 episodes

@KateMclean99 @cunningman31 @jacynon I think the BH main storyline is one of the best, for sure. It's just that the characters subplots fell kind of flat for me. You could cut entire major personal quests and the story still works. Chet going to learn to control his power? Basically no impact on him as a person.

@Dharlette @cunningman31 @jacynon Oh i agree. And i personally love that the BBEG makes the full circle of the beginning of the campaign. Love it wasnt just some random? Which leant to some great characters arcs. However, even though im a VM girlie at heart i think the best story campaign is BH 🤪

@caeslxys I feel like BH starts out with EVERYONE kind of vying for that role, and then eventually Imogen emerges as like, the one true main character (no shade to Imogen!). I feel like the campaign suffered from the lack of a best-supporting-actor a la Caduceus.

@caeslxys I don't know if it's about a lack of likeability for me; I think it's almost that the campaign starts out with like...too many protagonists? I know that's a weird complaint given that it's literally a D&D game, but past games tended to rotate who was the protag for each arc.

there are a lot of think pieces about "why people don't like or didn't watch c3" and I myself have many thoughts on it but an under discussed one, imo, is that c3 consistently demands you engage with the flaws of characters in a way neither campaign before it does

@KateMclean99 @cunningman31 @jacynon Hrm...I don't think I disagree with you on that, actually? I feel like narratively, M9 is indeed kind of all over the place. Where it absolutely shines is the characters, their interactions, and the ways they grow, change, and heal over the course of the campaign.

@cunningman31 @Dharlette @jacynon I agree. I think people have a bit of rose tinted glasses when it comes to MN. VM and BH were way more followable and linear for me. MN was so all over the place, that someone in the middle i got lost and only really knew what was happening again in like the last 2 arcs

@rmathematicus @jbarro Medical degrees are indeed relatively early, but a medical doctorate and the position of physician are not the same. Physicians began calling themselves doctors in imitation of higher education, not the other way around.

@Dharlette @jbarro Not true, the title was introduced in the medieval university for the highest degree and there were only three faculties that could award a doctorate, theology, law, and medicine

My hot take is yes, shiny hunting in legends ZA is busted, but so is all shiny hunting in Sword/Shield, Scarlet/Violet, and Legends Arceus. The one true method was the 3DS-era egg shiny value system, because that system relied on close-knit communities of altruists to get.

@adam_louis52328 Amalek can absolutely be a metaphor for the enemy, but when your leaders say "Those guys in particular are Amalek, we should wipe them out" then the violence being incited is no longer metaphorical.

The Amalek libel is one of the most bigoted antizionist libels precisely because it depends on a level of ignorance so crude and deliberate that it exposes the bigotry driving it. Like many antizionist libels, it draws on anti-Judaic condemnations of Judaism itself (despite the legitimating refrain that “Zionism isn’t Judaism”). But the Amalek libel adds something even more revealing: it can only function by ignoring what every educated Jew already knows about how the tradition actually understands Amalek. It requires ignoring that Jewish tradition has long read Amalek as a metaphorical proverb, not as a living population. It requires ignoring the dynamic evolution of Jewish thought, which recognized—already in late antiquity—that “Sancherib mixed the nations,” making it literally impossible to identify any descendants of Amalek and therefore impossible to carry out the commandment in any literal sense. From that point forward, Amalek was an ethical category, not an ethnic one. The antizionist deployment of Amalek works only by erasing this entire tradition. It flattens Jewish hermeneutics into the most denotational caricature imaginable, and then uses that caricature to accuse Israelis of genocidal intent. The bigotry lies not only in the accusation but in the required ignorance—the insistence on discarding the actual content of Jewish tradition so that a libel can be projected onto Judaism itself.
