@pvarshh@EndgameaiChess Dude are you dim? Do you know what the word 'prospect ' means? You can not call a WC an overrated prospect, even if it happened 25 years ago. It's quite literally the opposite.
Ian Nepomniachtchi : “Topalov basically donated his rating to Erdogmus”
Ian Nepomniachtchi shared his blunt take on the match between Yağız Kaan Erdogmuş 🇹🇷 and former World Champion Veselin Topalov 🇧🇬, where Erdogmus dominated and gained 22 rating points:
“The opponent was chosen very smartly, clearly with the goal of reaching 2700. A veteran who barely plays but still has a high rating is the perfect scenario.
Of course you still have to win, but it’s like boxing, you get favorable opponents to build momentum.
If he played Vassily Ivanchuk 🇺🇦, I’m not so sure. He’s very active and extremely tricky. That wouldn’t be so one-sided.”
@mahmutrakyali@EndgameaiChess Fabi basically said the same. It's not a 'Russian thing' because 2 Russian guys have the same opinion. Kramnik is an ass because he is Kramnic, not because he is Russian.
@pvarshh@EndgameaiChess Think what you want about their opinion, but calling world champions and candidates winners 'overrated prospects' leads me to think you overrate your own intelligence...
I find the "why did you farm someone random" comment very funny when only a month ago Awonder convincingly defeated Hikaru in a Classical/Rapid/Blitz match. Nonetheless, the tour continues!
@EmilSutovsky@ChessWatchCom Hahaha, now do averages per hour broadcasted. Comparing a 2 hour blitz tournament to a 2 week classical tournament by hours watched is hilarious!
Picture that says it all.
@ChessWatchCom provides the data for the most watched event in 2026 so far.
FIDE Candidates is head and shoulders ahead everything else, and it will keep this lead till the FIDE World Championship Match - where I personally expect the highest ever number of spectators in the chess history.
Kazakhstan no.2 Woman Alua Nurman takes a selfie with her opponent Magnus Carlsen before the start of Round 2 at the @GRENKEChess Freestyle Open! Before the start of the round, an Arbiter comes and takes Alua's phone with him.
Video: @ram_abhyudaya/ ChessBase India
@ChessbaseIndia@GRENKEChess@ram_abhyudaya People giving Magnus a hard time for asking an arbiter to remove his opponent's phone are new to chess? Remember Chevchenko, Rausis, Nigalidze? Let alone Kramnik's toilet-gate?
@alcidesrh@professorfikfak@ChessbaseIndia@GRENKEChess@ram_abhyudaya Why? She had a phone on her before the start of the game! Do you not know how chess works? Only people who have a problem with this clearly have no idea what's happening. He gladly took the selfie before the game...
