The words in these pieces can be absolutely true, how these works are used can be in opposition of their intent. Electors were meant to be a safeguard against corruption. Anyone paying attention knows that the electoral college is affected by state appropriations and the expansion of or the creation of new districts. The framers never directly addressed the issue of rogue actors in the House and Senate. Of course the money is an issue. We all want an answer from the framers for today’s issues, but we have a rogue congress, politicians looking to enrich themselves, corrupt or activist judges, a Supreme Court that bends with the wind.
