Kevin O'Leary's massive data center was approved by a county commission in Utah last night. At 40,000 acres, it would be 2.5x the size of Manhattan. The commission approved the proposal despite opposition from hundreds of locals.

Very Important Message!! Do NOT, and I repeat do not buy plants treated with Neonicotinoids. Bees take the pollen back to the hive and feed it to the brood. This is a number one cause of the colony collapse. It's important to NOT buy these plants! Make sure to share this post!

This is shocking: the House Rules Committee just blocked a vote on stripping the Save Our Bacon Act from the farm bill. The SOB Act, buried deep in the farm bill, would wipe out state bans on pork from crated pigs, condemning millions to a lifetime in gestation crates. We were getting very close to having the votes to pass Rep. Luna’s bipartisan amendment to strip the SOB Act from the bill on the floor of the House. Then pork industry lobbyists got to work. Behind closed doors, they got Rules Committee leadership to stop a vote entirely and protect the SOB Act from the scrutiny it can’t survive. The only option now is to kill the whole rotten farm bill. Please call your representatives at (202) 225-3121 and tell them to vote NO.

I'm a convinced atheist and here is my drop: The world looks exactly as it should if no gods/god exist. Cold, indifferent, and brutally random. Stars explode and wipe out entire planets for no reason. Kids get cancer while rapists live to 90. One tiny rock in a sea of deadly vacuum somehow sprouts life that mostly suffers and dies. Atoms are 99.9% empty space, wasteful bullshit. Prayers change nothing. Miracles only happen in stories or blurry videos. If an all-powerful, all-loving God was running things, we’d see order, justice, and mercy. Instead we see chaos, suffering, and silence. Exactly what blind physics and dumb luck would produce. No divine architect. No cosmic parent watching over us. Just a messy universe doing its thing, and us temporary bags of meat trying to make sense of it before we blink out forever. That's reality. Deal with it.

@Fr3shP3pp3rJack @greentoepalacio First off, a lot of those claims are just false. Quick question tho… who are these groups voting for TODAY? KKK? They’re around 100% Republican. Confederates? 100% Republican. Who’s currently creating internment camps today? Republicans. So, yeah, racists all around.

Christianity is one of those beliefs that can sound normal when you grow up around it, but once you step outside it and look at it critically, a lot of it starts to feel very absurd. You’re told to believe extraordinary claims like virgin births, resurrections, miracles, demons, answered prayers, and a God who controls the universe, yet the evidence is usually faith, old stories, and personal feelings. If these same claims came from any other religion, many Christians would reject them immediately. Then there’s the problem of suffering. We’re told God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and loving, yet the world is full of war, disease, disasters, starvation, and children dying painfully every day. If someone has the power to stop that and chooses not to, calling them loving becomes difficult. The Bible itself raises problems. Christians call it perfect truth, yet believers disagree on what it means, split into countless denominations, and often choose which verses are literal and which are symbolic depending on modern comfort levels. Many biblical stories also look like products of ancient people trying to explain the world before science: floods covering the whole earth, talking snakes, demons causing illness, humans made from dust, women from ribs. If written today, most people would classify them as myths. And then there is God’s silence. If God wants everyone to know him and have a relationship with him, why is his presence so unclear that sincere, intelligent people across the world honestly do not believe? When you step back, Christianity can look less like revealed truth and more like a man-made system built from fear, hope, tradition, and the need for meaning. Once faith is removed from the equation, much of it stops looking sacred and starts looking strangely human.

What do you find the most absurd about Christianity?

There are more flaws in Noah’s flood story than in most of the Bible put together. It doesn’t expose science, it exposes how little ancient writers understood about the world. They say the whole Earth was covered in water, even mountains. Simple question: where did all that water come from, and where did it disappear to after? Earth isn’t hiding extra oceans in a basement. Then forty days of nonstop rain somehow floods the planet. Rain doesn’t work like magic. If that much water came from the sky, the heat and pressure alone would turn the world into chaos. Then one wooden boat holds every animal. Think about that for two seconds: lions, elephants, birds, snakes, insects, cows, termites, pandas, parasites, all in one boat. Food, water, cages, waste, disease, fighting, cleaning. Eight people handling that is comedy, not history. Then after the flood, every animal spreads back across the world. So kangaroos hopped to Australia, penguins waddled to Antarctica, sloths crawled to South America, and none of them left clear traces on the way? Ridiculous! Then plants somehow survive months underwater. Forests drowned, crops ruined, land destroyed, but animals step off the boat to a ready-made buffet? Then two of each animal restart whole species. That means extreme inbreeding from day one. Anyone who knows basic breeding knows that’s a disaster plan, not a survival plan. Then fish are expected to survive too, while freshwater mixes with saltwater across the whole planet. Many species would die fast. And if a worldwide flood happened recently, Earth should show one giant mud layer everywhere. It doesn’t. So the real lesson is simple: Noah’s flood sounds exactly like what ancient people with zero knowledge of weather, biology, geography, or common sense would write. It’s not history. It’s mythology dressed up as fact.
Against Atheism@AgainstAtheismX

Atheists hate the story of the flood because it clearly shows divine judgement. They can't box God into the weird-hippie-vaguely-loving character they keep trying to tell everyone Jesus was.

@GBNT1952 I’d like to ask you… How did a country the size of New Jersey get the USA President to do this?… How does the leader of a country that size get a STANDING OVATION from both sides of the aisle when visiting here? (I’ll tell you how: they own our politicians through AIPAC.)

Tim Wong noticed the California pipevine swallowtail butterfly had nearly vanished from San Francisco. So he did something about it. He tracked down the one plant the caterpillars can eat — the California pipevine — got cuttings from the botanical garden, and built a backyard enclosure from scratch. He started with 20 caterpillars and has now raised thousands. Every year since 2012 more butterflies have been spotted flying free in San Francisco. Conservation doesn't require a big organization. It can start in your backyard too. Planting the right native host plants (even in a pot or small patch) is one of the simplest ways to help butterflies like this. What's one native plant you're growing this spring?
