Borrowing more to settle less public debt and use balance for recurrent budget. 📌 GoK has used the $1.2bn @WorldBank loan to settle the balance of $560mn of 2014 Eurobond ~ @CBKKenya 📌 Those in the know intimate that for every Sh10 GoK borrows, Sh7 goes to servicing the fast-ballooning public debt. Kenya has huge wage bill (with ghost workers) and yet it still allows people to retire at 65 instead of 55. 📌 It's also known that at least a third of our budget goes to servicing corruption (an estimated Sh1 trn) 📌 This means that without austerity measures, there is negative left for development budget - as roads alone have a huge pending bill 📌 But we will be borrowing more for the Nairobi-Mombasa Expressway, Nairobi- Mau Summit Road, the expensive SGR from Naivasha to Malaba, the Sh49bn (but may be completed at Sh70bn) bridge in Mombasa - among many essential but NON-PRIORITY projects 📌 That is how the likes of @DavidNdii and @IMFNews are burying Kenyans economy - to rest in peace - for many years to come! #RejectFinanceBill2024 #RejectingFinanceBill2024 #DebtSlavery
