It’s honestly beautiful watching film Twitter come together to clown on the Critical Drinker and the rest of the rage-bait grifter ecosystem after THE ODYSSEY. These people claim to love movies, but all they do is attack them. Every casting choice is woke. Every studio decision is proof Hollywood is dying. Every movie is declared a failure months before release because outrage is easier, cheaper and more profitable than actually engaging with the art. The Critical Drinker is the top of the funnel. He packages the resentment in a cleaner, more respectable way, then the algorithm leads people toward creators who are far more openly racist, sexist and bigoted. The entire business depends on keeping the audience “ignorant, ill-educated, and illiterate” about the movies and the industry they’re supposedly defending. They tried desperately to turn Christopher Nolan into another woke Hollywood disaster. They misunderstood the Academy rules, obsessed over tiny casting choices and predicted audiences would reject the film. Instead, THE ODYSSEY became a massive success, and every talking point blew up in their faces. That doesn’t mean the grift is dead. Their audience wants confirmation bias and will happily follow them into the next manufactured controversy. But defeating this stuff requires vigilance. Mock them. Correct them. Show everyone that they hold no real power beyond the attention people hand them. THE ODYSSEY may be the first step on the journey toward showing just how foolish these fools truly are. Nature might finally be healing.

@breakingyoun This arifficial hysteria is not acting. In any case Nolan is an amateur director who cannot drive actors somewhere. They just play themselves and some more capable play alone by themselves. There is not a style of acting in his rather childish movies.

Aside how badly she's written it's a terrible scene because of her acting. One of the reasons I love Nolan is his movies are not "acting" driven, it's more about the Borgesian idea and the energy of the cutting, the momentum. I think the film abandoned what he's best at.

The main reason the West is dying is because all the Western institutions are controlled by astonishingly stupid, left-wing people. Zanny Minton Beddoes is an Oxford graduate and Harvard PHD - yet she is stupid. How can this be so? Because she has an excellent memory and was able to regurgitate what her professors told her to remember. She is incapable of thought, but masterful in regurgitation. In recent times past she would be lower-middle management, but ALL the institutions are now controlled by people who owe their positions to regurgitation rather than thinking, provided they all belong to the Left-Wing Club, which of course they do. This is a serious problem for the West because no intelligent people could possibly still be left-wing by the time they old enough to be admitted into senior institutional positions.

@PieRsqaure Some of these actors are capable and can perform by themselves. A real auter like Bunuel or even a talented craftman like Hitsckock can drive the whole cst in the same style of performing. Nolan is just an amateur, that studios made a brand name, to sell their movies.

That's a pretty strong claim. Whatever someone thinks of Nolan's films, it's hard to argue he can't direct actors when so many of his casts have delivered acclaimed performances. Not every style works for everyone, but saying he "can't direct actors" doesn't really line up with the body of work.
