You don’t think JJ Overbeck’s Roman Catholic background influenced his translation of the text, you vile dog and son of Satan? In this edition by St Theophan the Recluse Press it’s obvious St Peter connects the state of sin with DEATH, like the BIBLE says. St Peter teaches that ancestral sin DAMAGED human will, yet it’s the choice of everyone as to whether they become righteous or wicked.

@HosannaHosannaa I understood that we don't disagree with "Transubstantiation", we just don't really use the term bc it has scientific connotations to it & we rather focus on the mystery rather than try to have a scientific answer for everything which is more of a Latin phronema ig you could say.

I've just discovered that Pelagius and Romanists agree on creationism. The difference is Pelagius (and by extension Eastern orthodoxy) use it to deny inherited guilt while Romanists affirm inherited sin. All of this is at odds with St. Augustine btw!

@ruckusofantioch @Alex_Ortodoxie When I was an EO catechumen, I struggled to see the alleged difference between both views of original sin and now as a Catholic, I still struggle to see the difference. Let’s just all agree that people with bisexual background lighting shouldn’t do apologetics.

The word translated here as «guilty» is ὑποκείμενος/подвергся, which means «subjected». But it won't change the meaning. We are born subjected to divine justice, being liable of punishment for our sinful natural state, in this sense the human race is guilty/condemned before God.
