Some think Fr. SDY is the problem here and not a seminarian that slanders clergy and subverts the Church?
Priests are called to be examples in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, & purity.
If you take that to mean not defending oneself or rebuking others you are wrong.
He goes after low hanging fruit, but I have to admit the people who call in to disagree generally don’t know what they believe. It’s a lop sided match for sure. If I catch him live sometime, I’ll debate him. I would on here, but he blocked me for asking him when he was gonna debate Brother Nathaniel
@biblecia Respectfully I gotta say that I think that the amount of possibilities Mormonism opens up by adding to scripture is just as much as sola scriptura opens up due to everyone relying on their own interpretation
I think I know where you're coming from. It's a Roman Catholic (maybe EO) jab, right? Like we're all just floating in uncertainty without a magisterium, or, in a rival group, without a selective view of certain councils in history, etc.? Am I right? Could be wrong.
Mormonism is not even remotely Christianity. As a Christian and a Protestant, I must sadly say this unequivocally. I evangelize Mormons as being in perhaps the least Christian religion on earth. Yes, Islam is closer...and it's totally false too. I digress.
IF I'm reading you right, and again I may not be. Consider that Mormons do share one thing in common with both Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox folks, and this mutuality is undeniable. All these groups share a commitment against what's called "sola Scriptura." Once you abandon the inspired text in its place, all sorts of possibilities open up! We Protestants (legit SS professors) disagree about minor stuff, and sometimes down-right stupidly, sure, but let's compare apples and apples- among those opposed to the Bible's counsel as the sole infallible authority for the Faith, how different are those conclusions?! Just look at the LDS and the Romanist as an example.
@andy_buksterlin@UncleNestor22 However much you think I watch Jay dyer I promise it’s ten times the amount I actually have
I like Jay, nothing against him. But it’s hard to watch him because of the people he talks to. It’s like watching a coughing baby fighting a nuclear bomb so I don’t tune in much
@andy_buksterlin Because Mormons make similar claims, that the church fell into apostasy and had to be restored, and they don’t have any continuity with the historical Church, and this is also foundational to Protestantism.
