The problem with culture war politics is that it convinces people to leave it to politicians & courts to say “you might get away with that over there, but you aren’t bringing that shit over here.” But politics and courts don’t care about “over here” in a centralized system.

It’s one thing to hear about the data centers in rural Texas. It’s another to drive by and see them in person. This is the one near Childress, TX where residents are being displaced by double rent hikes. abc7amarillo.com/news/local/chi… It’s hypocritical for Abbott to hand out the generous data center giveaways through tax breaks and abatements while campaigning to end them.

Sure, some of this requires data centers. I hardly think that’s the problem. Imagine using this argument in other situations: You don’t want a massive water tower built in your backyard? You must hate water…turn in your canteens. Dehydration is your choice. 😂 You don’t think we should have a military garrison in every town? Ok, then be prepared to raped and pillaged. You asked for it. Maybe there are better questions to ask that are more in touch with 2026 reality: Who is the actual customer for a massive influx of data centers? Why the urgency when the functions on this silly list seem to be suitably powered? Why is this a supposed “arms race” with China when they have 500 data centers and we already have 5000? Is it the government and techno bros and their Chinese style spy network? Why the mass and forced invasion instead of a normal expansion to meet growing needs? How much compute do flock cameras use? How much compute do the mass aggregate Palantir systems require? How much compute would a Mercedes version of a Chinese style surveillance network use? How much compute would a centrally controlled drone network cost? Who is really the customer? Would it somehow be better to live as a slave under a US spy network than a Chinese one?

@ShawnaNonna Every time I look at any major employer their LCA requests are high. I don’t see a dent. I have a nephew in Denton and it’s being taken over. Argyle, North Lake is turning into an enclave. It’s not slowing down at all by any measure I have seen.

Did they open up more H1B visas? I thought there's a 100k price tag to bring them in now. I haven't been following this as closely as I should. I just went on a rant here a couple of days ago after going back and forth to Frisco several times and seeing how it's FULL of Indians now. I was so pissed off. My daughter and her husband bought a house in a new development neighborhood, so they could be close to us. We had no idea what any of the neighbors would be like because it was all under construction. This it their third summer there. The community pool gets closed a lot, they often don't say why.. just a vague statement about needing cleaned or even drained and cleaned. There are a lot of immigrants in their neighborhood. We're actually talking about us both selling and moving ... anyway, the pool is currently closed because SOMEONE TOOK A POO IN IT!!! I thought the H1bs were going to be slowed down?? That's a very big problem that must be dealt with.. but handing our country to the commielibcrats is not the answer.
