Black women have created new businesses at a rapid clip for years, far outpacing other racial and ethnic groups. But strong financial headwinds from the pandemic and a lack of access to funding threaten to wipe out decades of their economic progress. forbes.com/sites/ruthumoh…

There are so many organisations that are doing absolutely essential work in their local communities on small budgets. The #charity Survival Fund reached organisations that on average had an income below £1million

Almost 2,500 children have been admitted to hospital with malnutrition in the first six months of the year. This is double the number in the same period last year. In the sixth richest country in the world, we have to support those who need help. theguardian.com/society/2020/j…

A big step in the right direction: Comic Relief funding for BAME-led organisations. Our take on @comicrelief commitment to deliver funds to BAME-led projects. We hope this is part of a longer term systemic change that the funding sector needs to see. bit.ly/3dRdOa0

We are disappointed to announce that we lost our legal challenge to NHS charging for destitute migrant women. We are now considering our options. Here is our full statement. #AllMothers ow.ly/DhQA50AmFFg

ICYMI: The pandemic creates new dangers for pregnant women, and particularly for #BAME women at greater risk. There are women with high risk pregnancies avoiding maternity care out of fear of incurring a debt they cannot pay. #AllMothers #CovidMaternity ow.ly/dm7y50AmVfK

The traumatic consequences of being black, male and "in the wrong place at the wrong time". Racial profiling by police means that a black father and his teenage son cannot go about their ordinary lives without being over-policed and under-protected. theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/j…

Thank you so much @4EVERManchester for the funding you provided us with. We were able to provide food packs to 40 African Families in Manchester. We had a very busy weekend, shopping for the food items, packaging and delivering to families around Manchester areas.

Absolutely - before PR looks like-competing with african/Asian led orgs, paying those orgs minor amounts to do work they won money for, falsely representing, spouting stats, failing to hire, promote or und’st how power plays out when WoC are the minority in the workplace/project
#CharitySoWhite@CharitySoWhite

These cookie cutter statements on BLM and racism are so damn tiring. Seems some not even taking the time to properly reflect on how racism operates in their orgs and just saying what others have. Anti-racism isn't a PR exercise. Do the work! 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪 bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

As well as highlighting the cruel and inhumane impact of the government's immigration policies (incl hostile environment policies) on black and ethnic minority groups, our report also illustrates how citizenship and belonging is based on the colour of your skin.

Wendy Williams published #Windrush Lessons Learned Review in March. Her conclusion was that the treatment of the Windrush generation was caused by "institutional failures to understand race and racism". The report made 30 recommendations; why hasn't Priti Patel acted on them?

#WindrushDay is dedicated to paying our respects to the #Windrush generation: their journeys, the challenges they’ve endured & their indispensable contribution to Britain. Let's not forget, three years after the #WindrushScandal, the fight for justice continues ✊🏿

What is clear from Fenton's report is that many of the causes of covid-19 severe illness & deaths among BME communities were known from the outset (see @Runnymedetrust contributions). There will be deep dismay and anger that the govt did not take action earlier to save BME lives.
