@MrZachG How did the learning sequence even get to the point of creating 30 volcanos as a summarize task? I would ask this question to the HOD, curriculum coordinator, deputy head of academics. Teachers will continue to do what they are good at until growth mindset is part of the culture

A vinegar and baking soda volcano cannot be used to summatively assess a unit on volcanism. Stop trying to use projects to assess student understanding of content. Most projects (eg dioramas) just assess the students’ artistic skills, such as their ability to use scissors.
