I was in the middle of an event and a Lions buddy of mine texted me saying "fuck." That's when I knew we had signed Ben Johnson.

Bears are currently in the bottom quartile of cash spending for 2026. Packers & Lions aren’t playing around and both are at/near Top 10 Apart from the Vikings who are similar to the Bears, the Bears are surrounded by some of the poorest performing teams in NYJ, ARI, LV, NO & MIA (which makes sense earlier in a rebuild) Meanwhile SEA, DEN, KC, PHI, BAL, BUF & SF are among the top I hoped Bears would at least invest league average in cash coming in a year after a playoff appearance, especially given the continued weakness in the DL I know they have upcoming extensions (Darnell Wright this year, Caleb next year, etc), but it’s hard to compete when you aren’t investing as much as teams toward the top. And cash spending is a lever you can pull to increase roster investment and circumvent the cap Perhaps they will make a trade at the deadline & are reserving flexibility for that I also get that the Bears don’t have a separate income stream outside of the team which puts them at a disadvantage But I just don’t get the strategy to be so conservative when you have a playoff caliber team

NFL Team Cash and Salary Cap spending for 2026 heading into training camp, including dead money. Top left quadrant are the higher Cash over Cap spending teams.

Chicago Bears: Go All In for Crosby now! DB Kyler Gordon 2 x 1st rd pick 2027 3rd rd pick This package is better than anything the 49ers or anyone else can offer Raiders get much needed depth at DB and firepower to build OL and DL Bears will enter into championship window as soon as this happens This is the way!

@Directhim @TheHerd Really? I've been reading Bears fans saying they have the best receiver room in the North. Every QB has dropped passes. Weak argument.

@Directhim @TheHerd He had the second lowest completion percentage in the league too. I guess you don't throw interceptions when you are throwing the ball into the ground.

@blobbylight89 @paschutz There’s a substantial difference in what the Bears are asking for and this. This would support fully public infrastructure including a city owned garage and plaza which they can sell the air rights to generate additional revenues. This is an investment, the Bears were a hand out

Im so confused here… We were told “no public dollars for private enterprise.” So what’s the consistent standard in Illinois? If $424M in taxpayer-funded infrastructure for a privately owned stadium district is acceptable for the Fire, why isn’t it possible for the Bears?
