No. The problems plaguing California are not 100% Newsom’s fault. He’s one man backed by a Democratic supermajority that has been collectively running this state into the ground for years, and I’ll be the first to acknowledge that. But here is why I hang it on him. He is the liar at the top. He inherited a $21 billion surplus, fabricated a $97 billion surplus number that never existed in actual budget documents, spent like it was real, and then presided over four straight years of deficits while blaming Donald Trump for problems that existed long before Trump set foot back in office. California has the highest electricity rates and gas prices in the continental United States, residents and businesses are fleeing by the hundreds of thousands, and his response to all of it is slogans, deflection, and a national book tour. He doesn’t govern. He performs. And the fraud he presides over, the circular funding schemes, the money that gets laundered through the system and counted as economic output so he can brag about California’s GDP, he either doesn’t understand what he’s sitting on top of or he doesn’t care, and honestly I’m not sure which is worse.

Bragging about being the only president repeatedly asked to take a cognitive test… Right.
