It always baffles me that the main competitive format isnt booster draft. Its 2 games in 1, its skilly in gameplay and deckbuilding, its fun with 4-8 players which satisfies the itch of community lot of players want and you NEED to buy booster to play which is perfect for WotC

The best part is that without context, this [appropriate] response can be directed at every constructed format that isn't Standard. At least that format gets a new set every 7 weeks that just seems to create a new Izzet deck.

Designed a deck to maximize my chances of winning in untimed rounds in top 16. Unfortunately, top 16 isn’t untimed—it’s 3 hours, then the highest remaining seat wins. I reached an unassailable position, but ran out of time. I was too focused on my game rather than the tournament-

The first time I qualified for the PT, I’d been playing competitive Magic for close to 10 years, realized I wasn’t really cutting it, and decided to go to the SCG Invitational as my “last big event” before focusing on other pursuits.
Then I won that tournament. 🤷🏻♂️

I must say, the more I play the deck, the less I want to board out Force of Will. I initially boarded it out against Thoughtseize decks like you do, but I wasn't losing games to running out of cards, only to tempo.

Mono black aggro winning multiple challenges. Three different flavors of DnT/Energy. I seriously can't remember the last time there was so much diversity among fair non-blue strategies. It took a while but I think legacy finally in a great spot again.

@targetplayer Vivi crushed attendance, so people who wanted to play Standard anyway had almost no opponents to play against, so they left too. Local events stopped firing. FNM level events switched formats.
I know lots people who wouldn't have left Standard if they emergency banned Vivi.

Spotlight Hoth 4 weeks ago (Lorwyn Limited) had over 2.6 times as many players as today's Standard Spotlight TMNT.
There's broad consensus that current Standard is healthy, diverse and fun. Feels like most players simply checked out of it.
