@TheBritLad He just wanted to tie the union jack to his balcony railings because it was St George's day. And the union jack is the flag of England. It's that simple. It has nothing to do with trying to intimidate or make a far-right statement.

🚨NEWS: A man has been ordered to remove his British flag after a neighbour complained it was “intimidating”. Labour-run council Southwark warned he could breach his tenancy agreement if he refuses. Why do they hate our flag so much?

@Jcastweet @VeteranHODL It's not jealousy, it's resentment. The common person makes millionaires richer, whilst being treated like shit. Most of these people also work a lot harder than their 'bosses'. Delegation isn't hard work.

@VeteranHODL Think most are jealous of their ‘bosses’. Should do an’trading places’ where they see all the hats business owners have to wear as well as being the people who are paid last in any organisation. Most wouldn’t last 2 minutes.

Some of the replies to this make me incredibly concerned about the levels of anger against small and mid sized business owners who let’s face it employ over 60% of the uk work force. The lack of understanding around basic economics is woeful.
Peter McCormack 🏴‍☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪@PeterMcCormack

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

@ferafestiva23 Your first mistake is having full time employees in a coffee shop. I very much doubt 5 staff plus yourself are required at all times. If I'm incorrect then it sounds like business is booming and you probably can afford that, with a view to open more coffee shops.

If I’m paying 5 employees £12.71 ph and have to increase to £15 I have to find an extra £29k+ a year (if you include NI and NEST etc based on 40hrs per week) does anyone think a business like a coffee shop can magic up an extra £29k + a year without putting up prices?

Green Party say they plan to ensure everyone has a minimum wage of £31,000pa. I run a business. I don’t earn that. I employ 2 people. They don’t earn that. The business I run doesn’t take in enough to pay that. I’d need to charge customers way more to afford that 🤷‍♂️. Or go bust.

@ThePosieParker Banksy doesn't speak publicly and doesn't explain his art. Art is in the eye of the beholder and if you see a negative message from it, then that says more about yourself than the subject matter.

@mikeerwydd1968 Not true. People can't afford pubs anymore and that happened before Labour. A lot of pubs haven't adapted to current trends so the consumer count declines. The price of a pint has risen more so, to reflect poor sales, therefore reducing footfall further. Whitehead is outdated.

If you want people to earn £15 an hour then: - Remove VAT - Remove business rates - Remove NI - Reduce energy costs - Reduce regulatory burden Your lack of understand of basic economics is astounding.
Zack Polanski@ZackPolanski

The Mail doesn't think seem to think workers, of all ages, are worth £15 an hour. That's fair pay for a fair day's work, with money workers will put back into the economy. We are the party for workers. Vote Green on 7th May.

@WillKingston Rightists don't understand it either. 6% of the UK are on the minimum wage. If a business can't afford to pay an individual just enough to scrape by, then the business model will never work anyway and the owners are inept.

Leftists don’t understand the (very simple) concept of trade-offs. If you hike VAT on private schools, kids leave private schools and place more pressure on the state. If you implement rent controls, you reduce the supply and quality of housing. And if you increase the minimum wage, less businesses hire people. It’s difficult to debate them because they don’t operate in reality. They’re children.
