@Disp3034Yooper @FoulTerritoryTV You made your point by specifically calling to the worst ump in recent history and suggesting you would trade that terrible garbage in every game for the new system I stand by my take That’s dumb

It's hard to find an argument against the ABS challenge system.

@tangotiger Respectfully disagree. We have always accepted the infallibility of umpires. Now we have to believe the super imposed strike zone is accurate and the animation of the ball placement is an accurate depiction of where the ball was when it crosses the plane.

@CodifyBaseball Very few of those I would consider egregious calls. ABS is not needed, IMO.

@Libertyordaeth @FoulTerritoryTV Elitist of you to insist your opinion is superior. I hyperbolically stated my opinion of ABS. No where did I claim everyone should have this opinion. Because you disagreed you called it stupid. I disagree with your take. The umpire variable is integral to the baseball experience

Calling correct balls and strikes does not remove the human element of the game. The human elements are the person throwing the ball and the person trying to hit it. The other part is defined by rules. It has no part that is intended to be faulty. There is no required element of the game there. If there was we truly would like bad umps over good ones. There has been constant work through decades to define the zone better, get them to call it more consistently, and more accurately. This is a solvable issue. It takes nothing from the game to solve it.

Your point was clear You literally don’t car how horrendous, unfair, and absurdly inaccurate the calling of balls and strikes is at times, you are against any strait forward modern solution that would fix it even though we all can see every missed call. For some weird reason you think a sport built on stats can’t evolve in ways that make the calling of it more accurate. We get it, you are some sort of purist who wants to pretend we are still playing in the 1930s and nobody has definitive proof of how bad the calls are. You like it crappy. We get it

@Libertyordaeth @FoulTerritoryTV Look up the word "hyperbole." Since it is physically impossible for Angel to call every single baseball game during the season should have clued you into that. I'm back to...

I have lost my keys inside my car. Not locked, LOST. To clarify: My car turned on. My car will only turn on if the keys are inside of it. So they must be in the car. Yet I cannot find my keys. My car is not messy. There is very little in it. I’ve looked everywhere. And yet, the keys are nowhere to be found. But they have to be here. Hence, I have lost my keys in my car. What … and I cannot stress this enough … the f*ck?

I don't think people understand that they changed the strike zone for the robots. This is a new strike zone. The TV box is real now but it was not real before.

@Libertyordaeth @FoulTerritoryTV If you just said that you disagreed I would have said fine, it's your opinion. But, you had to opine that not liking ABS is stupid. Well, that was a stupid comment. That is my opinion.

@FilmstudyRavens I like the human aspect of calling balls and strikes. Yes there is a wildcard aspect, but it's part of the game. ABS is not an improvement for my enjoyment of the game.

Following the opening weekend of ABS, I can't understand how anyone doesn't believe the game is improved. To summarize: --Another layer of strategy has been added --Many calls were corrected, including 7 of 10 in the O's game --Showing the Hawkeye result on the screen is going to get the bad umpires to retire sooner (Check video of CB Buckner's game) --Result is virtually instantaneous --After correction Ump Scorecards are going to have significantly less impact on the game with many key calls reviewed. #Orioles

@INTLBaseball24 The strike is measured at the front of home plate. Its possible these are strikes.

What would MLB games look like with a full ABS system? The KBO has it and all these cross ups were called strikes

@joeygems @GrantMN3 It has always been that to be a strike the ball just has to touch the strike zone. No matter what rule is put in place, someone will not be happy. I say axe ABS!

@Disp3034Yooper @GrantMN3 Except, calling that ball a strike makes the strike zone a ball length larger all around it. A huge advantage for pitchers if we ever go to full ABS.

people are debating “should it be a strike if the ball clips the zone like this” when the real question is “how confident are they that the ball actually clipped the zone like this, as opposed to missing the zone by a similarly small distance?”

@GrantMN3 @alfvebe The ump is also basing his judgement on how the batter is standing / crouching in the batters box.

@alfvebe There’s no good answer here. On those super close ones, the ump is guessing even more than the computer with measurement error is, so maybe it’s silly to fall back on his call. But maybe that’s where framing retains some value, idk.

@shegone03 @X @MLB Of course this was going to happen. The real questions are: Does ABS make baseball better? Does ABS put an end to the complaining about calls? No and no.

Imagine being told that you suck at your job by every keyboard warrior on @X because you can’t tell if a 90+ mph pitch missed the strike zone by a fraction of an inch! #shegone @MLB
