یوسف عزیزی، دانشجوی سال اخر دکترای سیاستگذاری عمومی دانشکاه ویرجینا امروز صبح مقابل منزلش توسط نیروهای ICE دستگیر شده. او تا این لحظه وکیلش را ملاقات نکرده و نیروهای ICE به او اعلام کردهاند به زودی به اردوگاه اتباع غیرقانونی در لوییزیانا منتقل خواهد شد.
این دستگیری بسیار شبهه برانگیز است چرا که وظیفه نیروهای ICE دستگیری اتباع غیرقانونی است و آقای عزیزی دارای ویزای معتبر است و مطلقا هیچگونه نقصانی در پرونده ویزایش ندارد. عزیزی از چهرههای شناختهشدهی رسانهای در فضای فارسی است که صدها مناظره و گفتگو در رسانههای مختلف به ویژه بیبیسی فارسی دارد. به نظر دستگیری او که از صداهای نادر مخالف جنگ و تحریم علیه مردم ایران در بیبیسی فارسی بوده انگیزه سیاسی داشته. لطفا با اطلاعرسانی در آزادی یوسف عزیزی به خانوادهاش کمک کنید.

Yousof Azizi, a PhD candidate in Public Administration & Policy at Virginia Tech (SPIA) and a media personality with hundreds of appearances on BBC Persian, has been detained by ICE—despite having no issues with his visa status. He was taken in front of his home, has not yet been allowed to meet his lawyers, and ICE is now discussing transferring him to a detention centre in Louisiana. Given there is zero issue with his paperwork, this raises serious questions about whether the detention is politically motivated. Azizi has been one of the few voices in the BBC Persian media sphere openly opposing war and sanctions on Iran.

جای نیروهای امنیتی بودم روابط افشین کلاهی را با دولتها و سرویسهای بیگانه بررسی میکردم. در شرایطی که باز شدن نت به معنای کشته شدن بیشتر شهروندان و ترور شخصیتها، نابودی زیرساختها و خطر وجودی است، چرا باید کسی برای باز شدن نت، آنهم با ارقام غلوآمیز و غیرواقعی، جوسازی روانی کند؟
