@bubbathea @MusketPower Yeah, people are pushing their narratives using this incident, even though it was an accident. Shit happens. There was a white guy who died in similar circumstances in December and nobody was saying anything violence against white people.

@wethepeopleeire I don't necessarily agree. It depends on the setting. In the US, for example, particularly in the south, systemic racism is definitely a thing. But in Ireland - not at all.

@DivineShadow33 Systemic racism is primarily visual, first impression stuff. If it was real, then no white person would have suffered the same fate as the Arnott’s Pilferer.

@wethepeopleeire Yeah, and to add complexity, the victim there was Romanian, so the "systemic racism" trope could still apply ;-)

@MollyJongFast They know Louisiana is lost. It is literally sinking. New Orleans will be under water in a few decades.

@Keg767 It seems more likely it wasn't a brain fade but a pilot suicide.

I operated these types of fuel control switches for 19 years on jets that were up to 20+ years old. Not once did I ever come across a FCS that would have been able to move from ‘run’ to ‘cutoff’ without human intervention. On the odd occasion you might come across a gate that was slightly more worn than other aircraft but it was still a gate that required the physical lifting of the FCS up and over. It is significantly more likely that someone inadvertently had a massive brain fade and switched the engines to cut off then the switches both magically moving themselves to cut off. For the record, the massive brain fade is also a highly, highly unlikely event. A 1 in 100 million type event. Maybe lower. So the chances of the FCS moving themselves to cutoff? 1 in 100 billion I reckon.

Indian investigators are set to visit Seattle for Boeing lab testing tied to the Air India Flight 132 incident involving Boeing 787-8 VT-ANX. The aircraft, operating London Heathrow–Bengaluru on Feb. 2, 2026, was grounded after pilots reported the left Fuel Control Switch slipped from “RUN” to “CUTOFF.” Officials want Boeing to prove under controlled testing that the fuel switches cannot move on their own — even under vibration, turbulence, electrical faults, or other extreme conditions. Boeing is expected to demonstrate that the switch will not move unless physically operated by a human. The outcome of the tests could play a major role in determining whether the incident was caused by mechanical failure, external factors, or human interaction.

@simple_Jack92 @bobw222 @OliLondonTV You know, this thing called the Internet has multiple options to search for information. Spacey won all the cases and was acquitted of all charges, criminal and civil. Nobody was killed, one accuser died of cancer, so that particular case was dropped before getting to court.

Kevin Spacey makes Cannes Film Festival return with feisty mystery woman. The actor is attempting to make his comeback after Hollywood cancelled him during the ‘Me Too’ movement.

@AnandoRando @uzohak @OliLondonTV Why? He didn't have sex with minors. Just adult men. And he was acquitted in courts. Don't get me wrong, he's a creep, but had his day in court and won.

@OliLondonTV Umm... It wasn't really Me Too. He was charged with sexual miscoduct against men, but was ultimately acquitted. Spacey is gay, so the "mystery woman" is probably some model to accompany him on the red carpet or something.

@doyle_esther @TomOHanlon17 It is weird how it works, sometimes. Murder is premeditated, so it wasn't murder, but manslaughter charges seem appropriate. But yeah, if you beat someone up and leave them to die, it's "just" assault... Stupid rules, eh?

@EO_Halloran People will still try to push their narratives. Some will yell it's racism, others will yell to deport all immigrants. While in reality the guy died because he commited a crime and because security were incompetent idiots. He wasn't targeted because he was black.

@Keep_t100 Im rejecting this American racial dynamic outside America. Ireland doesn't have a history of deliberate and intentional discriminatory bias against people with dark skin here so Id like to not pretend we are like America And they were private security. They werent trained police

The Twitter reaction to Sakila"s death at Arnotts is very frustrating The security are insane for causing the death, there's no justification If you are unsympathetic to his death you are a worthless person But also turning this into an American style racist crime is wrong

@Keep_t100 @EO_Halloran There is no record of systemic racism in Ireland. No record of police abuse vs blacks. No record of slavery, either. This bloke died because security fucked up. He just happened to be black. Just like one of the guys holding him, btw.

@EO_Halloran Enda can you explain to us why we can’t compare apples to apples? Yves and George were both - BLACK skinned The people who killed both men, where white skinned, and used excessive force, showing absolutely no regard for safety or humanity! Both countries have a racism issue🤷🏾‍♂️

@EO_Halloran His death was an unfortunate accident, but I'm more sympathetic to the old guy whose hip was broken by that thug. Security fucked up bigly though, that's for sure. Gross negligence manslaughter charges likely. There should be a review of training standards in this industry too.

@bubbathea Why are you trying to add a race angle to this? Because he was black? It didn't happen because of his ethnicity, but because he was stealing, and the security staff were incompetent idiots.
