This is actually core to my mental model of India: the inescapable visual footprint of the state Politicians' portraits on street corners and websites Flagged government cars The prestige of having even a minor bureaucratic title "This bus stop brought to you by Shri [local leader]" It's not unique to any single party. It's ingrained in the political culture When the hand of government is visible everywhere—roads, airports, digital spaces, daily life—you might start to believe that the state is the main driver of growth and progress

@cricketwoman A regionalist, no matter from what region, that thinks their region is above the nation, above the civilization, is a problem. Simple as that.

My view on Diljit Dosanjh is simple, he represents Punjab with pride, which is absolutely his right. Being a Punjabi is itself an honour, given the situations they went through from time to time. However, he rarely speaks about broader national issues. He didn’t comment on events like the Pahalgam attack or acknowledge operations such as Operation Sindoor, despite portraying an Air Force role in Border 2. At the same time, he chose to promote a project with a Pakistani actress more openly outside India during a sensitive period around Pahalgam attack. He can celebrate Punjab freely, but as a prominent “Punjabi” figure, which is an ethnicity in India, it would be a delight to see him talk about national issues as well.

Puneri brahmanical culture does not need to say anything explicitly. The nasal “na” says it all, reinforcing segregated sociability. scroll.in/article/109246… It drew lines separating many Marathis and its speakers and made it clear which side of the line conferred legitimacy and dignity. @630Aum @scroll_in It drives me nuts when people call पुणे, पुने. And no not just that, even हरियाणा, हरियाना । And I am neither a brahmin, nor from Pune. I just hate when people standardize the wrong things and then guilt trap people who say it wrong.

The West built its power grids on Copper. But India is Copper-Poor & Aluminium-Rich. Indian scientists perfected the AL-59 Aluminium Alloy conductors, a material that carries up to 30% more power than traditional cables while sagging far less under extreme heat & load. While the West battles decades-old copper infra, India quietly built the world’s most advanced 800 kV Ultra High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) corridors, engineering marvels that move massive power across 1000s of KMs with unmatched efficiency. Also, through the UJALA scheme, India distributed 36.8 crore+ (368M) LED bulbs. This single initiative slashed peak electricity demand by ~9500 MW & saved 48 billion units of electricity every yr. 9500 MW is equivalent to the output of ~20-25 large coal-fired power plants/the entire generation capacity of several states... achieved w/o burning a single extra tonne of coal. This ad by @Unilever - Comfort is completely unacceptable. Using a fish market as something “disgusting” to promote your product is not creative — it’s disrespectful. Fish is food. Millions of people depend on it for their livelihood. Fishermen, vendors, and market workers work hard every single day, and this ad reduces their environment to something shameful. People who eat fish don’t see it as “dirty” or “unbearable.” They go to these markets proudly and buy fresh food for their families. What exactly are you trying to say here? This is not just marketing — this is humiliation. You’ve insulted: Fishermen who risk their lives at sea Market workers who earn with dignity And millions of people who consume fish as a staple food If this is your idea of branding, it shows a complete lack of respect for real people and real work. Do better. Apologize. And stop portraying honest livelihoods as something inferior. #RespectFishermen #StopInsensitiveAds #ComfortAd #RespectFood
