Is this just strong regional pride or a very calculated branding move where "Punjab" is the identity he wants to push internationally? I have seen, it's becoming a pattern across his interviews. When #Khalistan_activists raised #khalistan flag in Vancouver and Calgary shows, @diljitdosanjh couldn’t hide his love for #india and his loyalty to Indian regime. He tried to pretend his love for #panjab while operating fully inside the #Indian_system, #Indian_passport, #IndianTV appearances, waving the tricolor at Coachella, and calling out the disruption.
This isn’t neutral. It’s the standard playbook for big Punjabi commercial artists born in India. They romanticize Panjab’s culture, language, history, farms, and #Sikh_pride all day, #farmer_protests, floods, #Komagata_Maru stories on @jimmyfallon show. But sovereignty? #Khalistan? An independent #Sikh_homeland? Not a single syllable. They know exactly which side butters their bread,the massive #Indian_market, Bollywood crossovers, government stages, and mainstream success.
#DeepSidhu and @iSidhuMooseWala stood out because they went further. #deep_sidhu openly pushed harder Sikh identity politics during the farm protests. Moosewala’s tracks touched Sikh history, and #kharku references that got banned in India. Both paid heavy prices, #DeepSidhu and @iSidhuMooseWala both got assasinated by #Indian_state. Their boldness made them heroes to some but targets to indian regime.
Most big name Panjabi singers including @diljitdosanjh don’t touch sovereignty rhetoric. They talk Panjabiyat,1984 justice, or cultural issues on Indian platforms but never cross the line india drew for them. Why? Because open Khalistan advocacy tanks careers inside India, invites legal heat, and alienates the core audience. India treats the Khalistan movement as a national security threat and these kind of celebrities are the part of Indian propaganda against Panjab’s sovereignty.
These artists aren’t secret revolutionaries biting their tongues. They’re pragmatic businessmen repping Panjab as a proud part of India. They raise issues like farmer laws, water, 1984 but reject the #sovereignty.
Most mainstream #Panjabi_singers love their roots, cash the cheques, and stay inside the Indian framework. They have spines for cultural assertion and selective grievances, but not for carving out a sovereign Panjab.
Don’t expect Diljit or the rest to suddenly grow revolutionary balls on stage,their actions and bank accounts show where their loyalty lands. They don’t have spine to talk about #Khalistan.
