Uma coisa que me incomoda no Mercenário do MCU é o fato dele ter um senso de moral. É uma moral distorcida e problemática? Sem dúvida. Mas ainda assim, ela existe. Já o Mercenário das HQs é completamente diferente: ele não tem escrúpulos, é cruel por natureza. Um verdadeiro sádico. Mata inocentes por puro prazer, busca sempre a forma mais brutal de executar suas vítimas e se alimenta do medo delas. Sabe a cena da lanchonete? O Mercenário das HQs teria dilacerado todo mundo naquele lugar, não só os policiais da AVTF. Nas HQs, o Mercenário é talvez a pior pessoa que poderia existir. No MCU, por outro lado, ele aparece como alguém manipulado, que acredita estar fazendo justiça em algum nível. E no final do dia, tá apenas eliminando policiais corruptos. E é aí que surge meu incômodo como leitor de quadrinhos: eu sei o quão mais doentio e perturbador o Mercenário original é, e essa suavização me soa estranha. Dito isso, preciso reconhecer que o Poindexter da série Demolidor é muito bem escrito dentro dessa nova proposta. Funciona. Não é uma mudança ruim, mas sim uma adaptação diferente. Meu desconforto vem mais do preciosismo de fã do que de qualquer falha narrativa. No fim, o personagem cumpre bem seu papel como versão alternativa. E fica a curiosidade: será que um dia veremos esse Mercenário nos Thunderbolts, como aconteceu nos quadrinhos? 👀
