@sleepyymush oh yes my high school in particular was a huge reason i felt this way - the last week of school was “enrichment activities” where rich kids paid to fly to europe and i did improv in the schools theater, all for credit towards graduation 🙂

I feel this baddd but I also feel schools became complicit and even directly responsible for this kind of reaction from parents. In middle school and high school it became very normal for classes to assign projects where money HAD to be spent. My grade shouldn’t be dictated by $

quoting to add that a lot of people are referencing legitimate abuse and neglect (a form of abuse) and while i have no problem with those conversations i feel like i have to add that i don’t feel like missing out on some field trips and being relegated to library trips is abuse

@idontevenexist5 Normalize showing kids your finances. Show them how much money there is and where it goes every month and why saving money is good. I can’t tell you how bad it is when said parents die and then you don’t know where everything is. Money shouldn’t be a secret.
