Shooting giant wads of cash into the stratosphere is a bit too on the nose for this moment. This week, I saw two people asleep on the bus for the first time in 13 years.

@erik_thorvalds I think your pattern of distrust would remain if Alberta was independent. Do you trust anything or just yourself?

I don’t trust the CPC. I don’t trust the UCP. I don’t trust the NDP. I don’t trust the Liberals. I don’t trust a single politician. They are all poison. Worse than kings. The system is fast losing all credibility and legitimacy. Only #AlbertaIndependence for me.

I really thought Albertans could be smart enough to concentrate on independence while still knowing a Conservative federal government would be better than a liberal super majority.

@DivyDex @kpac_15 For the record, I'm 60, and I've been an Albertan 60 years 😉. My dad used to run a Calgary radio/TV station. Taught me to question all "news" and deep dive into everything.

@FlamesForums @kpac_15 I would love to hear how you think our county is moving towards authoritarianism because I don't see it. We're in a very tough time for the opposition parties. We are re-enacting Canadian history of long Liberal leadership. The lost decade under Trudeue was especially hurtful.

@DivyDex @kpac_15 The USA certainly isn't on its way to authoritarianism - that is TDS thinking. Not saying you're exhibiting it, but what you're presenting shows a blindness towards some of the things happening in this country right now.

@FlamesForums @kpac_15 I believe this confusion has enabled post-truthers around the globe the ability to be political entrepreneurs. And these political entrepreneurs are targeting right-wing politics mostly. It's a sad affair.

@FlamesForums @kpac_15 Oh that's cool man and I'm of the internet era so it's kind of given to always mistrust the news and the internet itself and books and media and everything else. You have to have a basis of facts to then proceed to gather more facts. And then you have to cross-analyze everything

@FlamesForums @kpac_15 It's a pain. I apply this to my own thinking all the time though and I hear more people around me getting more confused about things. The internet, though amazing, pushes people further into confusion often.

@FlamesForums @kpac_15 But alas you're older than me so maybe I can ask you. Have you seen America be more authoritarian than it is right now? The only other time I can think you can say is COVID but if the whole world was a authoritarian then is that relevant now that we're pulled back from that?

@FlamesForums @kpac_15 I'm not saying we're at the point but I think there's an ongoing authoritarian revolution in America and we do not know if will turning out to be that authoritarian revolution or if they pull back from it. It's not determined yet if that's what's going to happen.

@FlamesForums @kpac_15 I'm not saying we're there yet but I do also see that I see elements of fascism being laid in America right now, most likely arriving after Trump. I think people like Tucker Carlson are already setting up anti-Semitic framing and then there's also an element of Israel's

@FlamesForums @kpac_15 relationship with the American government, which I believe will turn to hard anti-Semitism in the future. Another thing too I've been noting is that there's a general sense of fear that I haven't seen in a democracy in my live time.
