Uttarakhand CM has requested PM Modi to extend the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) from Meerut to Haridwar and Rishikesh to improve regional connectivity. He also asked for early launch of the Rishikesh–Vyasi rail section, part of the Rishikesh–Karnaprayag railway line. This 125 km rail project (target 2028) will cut travel time from 7 hrs to about 2 hrs and improve access to Char Dham pilgrimage sites.
