Archean Chemical might end up becoming far more than a bromine and industrial salt company. The company’s subsidiary, SiCSem, has now signed the Fiscal Support Agreement with the India Semiconductor Mission for its Silicon Carbide (SiC) semiconductor project in Odisha. The project size is around ₹2,067 crore. This is important because Silicon Carbide is increasingly becoming the preferred material for high-power semiconductors used in EVs, fast chargers, renewable energy systems, smart grids and data centres. As power consumption rises globally, efficiency becomes critical, and SiC chips can operate at much higher temperatures and voltages with lower energy loss compared to traditional silicon-based devices. That is precisely why the global industry is shifting towards SiC power electronics. India today imports a significant portion of its advanced semiconductor requirements, especially in power electronics. So this is not just another diversification announcement. It is a serious attempt to enter a strategically important manufacturing segment where entry barriers are extremely high and long-term demand visibility is strong. What also stands out is that this project is already moving beyond the announcement stage. The company had received approval earlier and had reportedly started funding long-lead equipment procurement even before signing this agreement. If executed properly, this could completely change how the market eventually looks at Archean over the next decade. Not many chemical companies in India are attempting a transition of this scale. Execution now becomes the biggest variable to watch.

It's three businesses with fundamentally different moat types stapled together... ad-tech toll on OEM discovery, physically-irreplicable auction infrastructure, and a trust layer on top of India's used goods chaos.
