@Helen_Whately @Conservatives Too many MP’s earned more than £250,000 from back room deals and “talks” while still Claiming expenses for 2 homes! Let’s see you give up yours before you take from everyone else?

Hundreds of thousands of households claimed £32,200+ in benefits last year. 16,000 of them claimed £60,000+ ...almost 2x the average annual take-home pay of a British worker. @Conservatives will tighten the household benefit cap to make sure work always pays more than benefits.

@Dmdav1 Wasting your time. The daily fail readers only have one brain cell and it’s set to believe everything they’re told! Add that MP’s would rather hide the benefits they receive including all the extras and backhanders from these people

Hi Katy how do you feel about the tax payer paying your council tax, rent and heating expenses for your constituency home ? It’s all adding up to quite a perk of the job plus food and drink subsidies at work. Can we discuss this because it’s working people covering the cost 🤔
Katie Lam@Katie_Lam_MP

More than 600,000 households across the country are now getting paid more in benefits than the average family earns from work. And it's the working people who are being taxed to cover the cost. We can't keep squeezing hard-working people to pay for those who don’t work.

@sophielouisecc Must be true cause you read it in the daily fail! Tell you what, quit your work and go claim benefits.. then post your UC payment etc for the month.. you will be lucky if you get £10k for the year which I guess under Reform will the the avg low paid job if they get in power.

More than 600,000 households across the country are now getting paid more in benefits than the average family earns from work. Yet it’s those who work that are having to pay for those who don’t, to have a better standard of living than they do. Wrong on every level

I'm autistic and ADHD and I can confirm I get £2,500 each month in PIP alone (double bubble for 2 conditions). Some of that I redirect to paying for my Motability luxury motorhome and the rest I save towards 1 big hol and a couple of city breaks a year.

@AllisonPearson Okay I’ll explain it like you read the daily fail.. There’s a benefit cap stopping people from getting more than working people. Majority of people on UC are working and finally if you believe the shite from the daily fail, quit your job and try claiming! You will find out then!

Obscene, immoral, demoralising. The British state mocks the hard-working and just-about-managing. No one on benefits should be getting more than the average worker’s salary.
Bernie@Artemisfornow

What? … 625,618 households received more in benefits than the average UK worker's salary after tax and 16,000 received over £60,000 in welfare payments … DOUBLE the average annual take home pay for a worker in the UK after tax. This is not a functioning society 🤡

@Helen_Whately Very difficult to claim that much when the cap is £22k. U like your expenses for 2 homes, all the bills, transportation and let’s not forget the public funded reduced cost à la carte meals at work! All while being paid £96j a year! And you have the nerve to call ppl in benefits!

Thousands of households claim £50,000+ in benefits every year. You have to earn £65k for that income through work. It’s not fair and we can’t afford it. The next step in my plan to grip welfare and get Britain working 👇

@Artemisfornow With a none refundable deposit of over £6,000 the only people taking this car are rich middle class who work while having disabilities. PIP is after all for people with disabilities regardless of work or not. Maybe think before you speak, give the 3 brain cells you have a chance?

@SeddSezz The best thing any government that actually cares about the people it governs would be to disband this corrupt House of Lords! It’s just a gravy train of taxpayers money for old rich ex MP’s and the “right” family name! No room for it in a modern democracy. Scrap it now!

🚨Yesterday, Starmer removed all hereditary peers from the House of Lords It was the end of the 700-year-old tradition. The office of the Lord Great Chamberlain dates back to 1138, but this has also been eradicated. Labour loves doing away with tradition!

@KEdge23 Great idea let’s have a 1 house limit for MP’s! Why should the public fund 2 houses for MP’s earning £98k a year! They already get more in expenses than the min wage then add insult with tax funded à la carte meals and alcohol! Cut benefits for MP’s

Only the Conservatives, under Kemi Badenoch’s leadership, have been consistent in their plan to tackle the ballooning welfare budget. Conservatives have committed to bringing back the two-child benefit cap and have plans to slash Benefits Street spending. A plan that matters.

@sophielouisecc How about the MP’s earning £99k a year but claim housing costs for 2 houses, travel and living expenses and then get à la carte dinners for. £10 because tax pays the rest! And then call ppl getting £100 a week in UC scrounging!! Your blood should be boiling over that!

It’s easy to not see the unfairness of benefits when you are on a large salary - because those on benefits earn less than you. But when - like me, you earn a salary that is less or comparable to people on benefits You see and feel the unfairness - many in the media are not in that position - but I am as are a quarter of all Brits - it’s why I will talk about it more often

@Jenny_1884 Totally agree , my friend has a house he rents out and does credit checks, one guy didn't look like he could afford the rent as the only income for the family was his £32k a year salary but on doing the credit check he also gets £33k universal credit! So £65k in total ! Crazy

@LeeAndersonMP_ Just throwing this out there. Why should someone on £98,599 a year need free housing for 2 homes, expenses and public funded reduced cost a al carte meals? Benefits are capped at £25,837 for London and £22,000 for the rest of the country! Numb nuts

Just throwing this one out there as I was asked this question earlier today. A couple both working with a combined income of £50,000 would pay £11,500 a year in income tax and national insurance, Another couple receiving £50,000 in benefits including Universal Credit, Personal Independent Payment, Housing Benefit, Income Support and Child Benefit would pay no income tax or national insurance, keeping the full £50,000. Should the non-working couple on £50,000 a year pay the same amount of income tax and national insurance as the working couple? Please leave a comment below.

Spain is a member of NATO. Spain denied the United States, also a member of NATO, access to its Airspace when conducting attacks on Iran. We are told Spain cannot be removed from NATO despite this belligerence. So it’s time 🇺🇸 just left it.
