📢 New @mavoweb app—a card matching game (aka Concentration) built without a single line of custom JS. It showcases many Mavo features, including the future ones: a new way of defining collections, item bar customization, pluralize(), etc. github.com/DmitrySharabin… #MadeWithMavo

@LeaVerou I accidentally tap on option C. 🤦‍♂️ That’s not what feels less surprising for me. For me, the most expected result is B.

🚨 Want mixins in CSS? Help the @csswg by telling us what feels natural to you! Look at the code in the screenshot. What resulting widths would you find least surprising? A: All get 100px B: div gets 100px, div > h2 gets 200px, div + p gets 300px C: div gets 100px, div > h2 gets 200px, div + p gets no width D: div and div > h2 get 100px, div + p gets no width Poll in next tweet! Please answer based on what feels natural to you, not what the current proposal says.

@jaffathecake @mozhacks Or maybe we just don't have enough positive experiences to get used to it… yet. 😃 Let’s hope it will change one day. In any case, thank you for your quick responses. 🤝

@DmitrySharabin @mozhacks Yeah, you're not the first to say that. Native apps don't tend to do this, but maybe we don't trust the web as much. Fwiw there's a loading indicator if it takes over a second.

As an experiment, we (the Firefox team) wanted to try a new way to get feedback on which Interop proposals matter most. So, here's a web app where you can rank the proposals you care about, giving us data we can use when reviewing which ones to champion. interop-rank.jakearchibald.com

@jaffathecake @mozhacks Probably one more thing, @jaffathecake. I still doubt whether my proposal rank was stored or not. A permanent (as opposed to a toast when something was wrong) and easily noticeable indicator of the app state would be helpful, from my perspective.

Wow, style-observer is featured very prominently on today’s issue of @JavascriptWeekl! javascriptweekly.com/issues/723 Thanks for the shoutout folks (for Color.js too!), @DmitrySharabin and I are very humbled!

🚀 Launching style-observer: A bulletproof, production-ready library for observing CSS property changes in JS. For reals. Developed with the help of my apprentice @DmitrySharabin over the last month, after I ran into yet another use case, and none of the existing options worked well for my needs. Made possible by the pioneering work of @bramus, @fluorumlabs, @JaneOri and many others! Blog post: lea.verou.me/blog/2025/styl… Docs: observe.style

It's been 365 days since I lost my dad. I try not to let the what-ifs and the should-haves overshadow the good times we had. So today, I'm not going to dwell on what went wrong. Instead, I'm going to think about what went right. He never understood the things I'd program on the computer, but he loved that I was doing it. So today, I'm just gonna quietly keep doing that. <3

Built this app for myself and regularly use it to explain color spaces visually. It also comes in handy and saves a ton of time when I want to take screenshots.

@mhartington Exceptional talk — it was a pure joy to watch. I bookmarked it as an example of a well-thought-out and amazingly delivered presentation for my students. I could imagine how much creativity and effort it takes to make something that special. Thank you! ❤️

Huge props to @DmitrySharabin who took the lead on this release. 🥳 It’s been so gratifying to see him grow into the skilled developer he is today, starting from a @mavoweb user in 2018. Such a pleasure to mentor someone who is always eager to learn, never becoming complacent.

People pay money (by buying tickets to different conferences) to listen to @LeaVerou. I'm honored to have her as my mentor for almost five years. Thank you, Lea, from the bottom of my heart, for all you do for me! ❤️ P.S. No doubt, everyone will blossom under Lea’s mentorship!
