I just wanna say, the courtship culture of Orthodoxy in America feels more toxic than any other religious or social group in the world. Beyond the growing gender gap with the extremely picky hypergamy of young women in the Church here, and the strong ethnic preferences among cradle Orthodox young women, even beyond just the ever worsening economic situation in the west. The most toxic is the rhetoric we so often hear that young men have to become literal Saints and have the spiritual strength of Great Schema Monk to be worthy of marriage. We always hear, you're too passionate, you're lustful, you're not praying enough, you're not fasting good enough, you don't have a good enough prayer rule, you're not doing enough Spiritual readings, you're not doing enough various tasks in your Parish. Eventually, it's hard to not feel like you're never gonna be enough. I say Orthodoxy in America because this kind of pressure is not put on Orthodox men in Eastern Europe, only American Orthodox for some reason. In Eastern Europe as long as your masculine, have at least an average salary for your country's standards, and go to Church at least a few times a year, that's considered good enough over there to be worthy of marriage. Not here, here young men are told that have to have faith the size of mustard seed and be able to spiritually move mountains to be worthy of marriage. What bothers me more about this St. Paul the Apostle said in 1 Corinthians Chapter 7 that marriage is designed by God for men and women who are weak in their spiritual struggle. Yet the common rhetoric of Orthodoxy in America says the opposite, that because you're weak in your spiritual struggle you're undeserving of marriage. It's really hard for young men to not feel despair and want to give up because of this enormous pressure and extremely high standards. The national average of young men getting married by age 30 has fallen to 16%. Which means for young Orthodox men in America that average has probably fallen to around 5%, and frankly, the Church offers no real solutions to this problem other than just telling young men they're not good enough.

@FrenAlium @BaneThe76451 It's not really difficult to just realize or admit that men prefer or desire youth and beauty, and women resources. If they can get more, they go for it, but it's funny when it's OK for them to ask for all without giving much, then get mad at men for what they desire.

Most things women are explained by the fact that NO ONE in modernity will be honest about what they are/are not. That is, their window is 16-23, then a hassle.

@MackenMurphy Women's desire is heavily based on emotional closeness. I think in too many relationships partners stop courting each other and become complacent or boring. And for women that involves a heavier decline in sexual interest compared to men.

Amateur. Men are in interested in having sex with multiple other women since the beginning of a relationship, but they want to continue to fuck their primary woman for years. Women conversely, may be more devote to a certain man initially, given their high selectiveness; but become bored after a few lays when they start to know him as a person (shit tests, icks...). Sex becomes quickly transactional for the ladies (i.e. to keep their man happy so he'll provide and protect). Any man who has casual sex often is aware of that. Keeping a rotation of girls if you don't promise a relationship is hard. Even if you are dominant and give orgasms since the first day, women become quickly disinterested and are already looking for the next mysterious psychomaxed thug. Women are whores, in essence.

@Dallas_DILF I’m a conventionally attractive woman. I have received three promotions throughout my life that I was unqualified for as well as a 16k raise (all at once.) I also receive various gifts and free things. Like free maintenance on my car because my boss’s nephew is a mechanic.

I had a former younger female colleague that’s legitimately beautiful and as soon as she was hired, our practice group chair took her under his wing. She became partner in record time. Meanwhile they ground me into the ground until I burned out. This is definitely a thing.
