He will be entering peak years when Burrow is 30. He was drafted for the next iteration of the Bengals. Doesn't align with winning in 2023, but this is the Bengals 2nd consecutive year of focusing on the next iteration. Get use to it.

The crazy part about not picking up Myles Muprhy's 5th Year Option is that the Bengals have only declined that 3 times in their past.

@CharlieG__ If the Bengals viewed Murphy as a key player for the long-term AND viewed him as about to "breakout" then I fail to understand why they wouldn't have happily locked him in for $14.5m for 2027.

During the final week of last season, Joe Burrow and Joe Flacco were asked who has stood out to them the most on the defense. They both said Myles Murphy.
The Bengals like him. He’s a good player. You go back to what Duke Tobin said the other day about finances following the Lawrence trade for a team that is right near the top in total spending right now.
The Bengals have done a lot differently of late. The next big, meaningful change should be getting extensions done early with players like Murphy. You don’t want an edge who’s just hitting his prime walking out the door next March.
