To all of the people calling to defund PBS and NPR, here are some facts: - NPR receives approximately 0.6% of their funding from federal grants. The vast majority of their funding comes from corporate sponsors, and donations. - Fox News has saved millions of dollars through dodging US taxes by opening shell companies in the Cayman Islands and elsewhere. - Tesla, SpaceX and Solar City all receive substantially more in government funding than NPR.

There is nothing more humbling than attempting to spell a word you frequently use in conversation, only to realize that word is not actually a recognized word 🤦🏻‍♂️

@Aidan_Baron unless one is on supp O2 would be unusual to require a blood gas to dx hypoxemia. The reason for the gas is usually for acid/base and ventilation.

It has taken almost 4 years of medical school and finally we had an Intensivist sit down and teach everyone the safe way to interpret ABGs: 1. PaO2 (P:F ratio etc) 2. PaCO2 (Ventilation etc) 3. bE, HCO3, then pH (Acid-Base) 4. Anion gap Please teach this way

@AndromedaShock But this presumes that weaning will be successful? The first time? I think the potential harm is the recurrent npo orders when weaning is difficult/prolonged.

Sorry but nobody will convince me ever that stopping Enteral Nutrition for 24h periweaning is bad for patients! Never ever. On the contrary, what is against common sense never flies in the long-term. Pls don’t forget physiology!
