@DaveHawkinsX @davidsenra @tobi Your second paragraph shows why your first is wrong. The ultra rich don't share or give away what they can't eat. They just hoard it. You could bake 100 more pies, and that would still be the case.

@davidsenra @tobi Every time I listen to Bernie Sanders, I think of the pie. He is worried about slicing the pie and distributing the crumbs to everyone. I always ask, why not just bake 10 more pies? Abundance means not having to slice the pie, but instead, share or give away what you can’t eat.

"Capitalism created the possibility of the win win win. It used to be a zero sum game where somebody won, somebody else lost. The biggest mistake people make, intellectuals in particular, they still think we're in a zero sum world. They're obsessed with some billionaires because Bernie Sanders thinks that Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk somehow stole the money from the people. They don't understand that it's this prosperity machine that's creating more, not just for those billionaires, but for everything that they're touching. They're creating value for their customers, they're creating value for their employees. Their suppliers are flourishing, their investors are seeing their capital go up. It can be reinvested and compound. All philanthropy ultimately comes from business. That's where the profits are. Where does all the taxes come from? It ultimately comes from business as well. This is the engine that's lifting humanity out. The entrepreneurs are the drivers of that engine. Somebody like Elon Musk, he gets a very, very, very tiny sliver of the value that he creates for the whole world." — @iamjohnmackey

@JSHbabble @JamesMelville Is that not also a horrendously one-sided account? You mention 'thousands of rockets', but don't mention the fatalities caused by those rockets. Nor do you mention any Israeli aggression. What caused all the Palestinian fatalities, of which there were many more?

Ah the usual ‘let’s only tell one side of the story Palestenian grift’ Here’s what actually and factually happened. Israel launched Operation Cast Lead (also known as the Gaza War or First Gaza War) on December 27, 2008, primarily in response to years of sustained rocket and mortar attacks fired from the Gaza Strip into Israeli civilian areas by Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups. Background Leading to the Operation • Israeli disengagement from Gaza: In 2005, Israel unilaterally withdrew all its settlements and military forces from the Gaza Strip, handing control to the Palestinian Authority. Hamas, an Islamist militant group designated as a terrorist organization by Israel, the US, EU, and others, won Palestinian legislative elections in 2006 and seized full control of Gaza from Fatah in a violent takeover in 2007. • Rocket fire escalation: From the early 2000s (intensifying after the 2005 withdrawal), militants in Gaza fired thousands of homemade Qassam rockets and mortars at southern Israeli towns such as Sderot, Ashkelon, and surrounding communities. These attacks targeted civilians, caused deaths and injuries, disrupted daily life, and created widespread fear. By some estimates, nearly 12,000 rockets and mortars were launched from Gaza over about eight years leading up to the operation. In 2008 alone, hundreds were fired despite a temporary ceasefire. • Ceasefire breakdown: A six-month truce (tahdiya) between Israel and Hamas took effect in June 2008. Rocket fire decreased significantly during much of this period, but both sides accused each other of violations. On November 4, 2008, Israel conducted a raid into Gaza to destroy a Hamas tunnel it said was intended for abductions or attacks, killing several Hamas operatives. Hamas responded by resuming and increasing rocket fire. The truce formally expired on December 19, 2008, without renewal, and rocket attacks surged in the days before the operation. Israeli officials, including then-Defense Minister Ehud Barak, described the operation as a necessary response after “patience ran out” with the ongoing threat. The stated goals were: • To halt the rocket attacks on Israeli civilians. • To degrade Hamas’s military capabilities and infrastructure (including rocket production, storage, launch sites, and smuggling tunnels). • To restore deterrence and fundamentally change the security situation in and around Gaza. The operation began with an extensive aerial campaign targeting Hamas facilities, followed by a ground incursion. It lasted until a ceasefire on January 18, 2009.

Tony Benn was a politician who refused to be silenced. Here he is back in 2009, calling out a BBC decision to refuse to publicise a charity appeal to help Palestinians in Gaza deal with the humanitarian crisis provoked by Israel’s Operation Cast Lead. The conflict resulted in over 1,300 Palestinian deaths. Over 46,000 homes were destroyed in Gaza, making more than 100,000 people homeless.

When I was in my 20s I wished to deepen my understanding of the Israel-Palestine situation. So I purchased at least a dozen books - mostly semi-obscure, academic, many by dissenting Israeli historians. A day came when I closed a book halfway through, resolved to read no further, even to try to forget all I had learned, and then I donated all the books. It was clear, painfully and miserably clear, that I would be wasting my life trying to understand it more when it was nothing more than this.

@centregoals Is Bruno better than Messi or Ronaldo? Most would say no. But is he one of the most productive midfielders in the history of the Premier League? The numbers say yes. To produce at a "Messi-like" rate for over 300 games in a struggling United side is genuinely world-class.

The thing I hate the most is hypocrisy and gaslighting. If you say that too many people in Britain don't speak English, live in a parallel society and don't integrate you'll be shouted down and called names by the very same people who are campaigning in a foreign language:

🚨If you’re thinking of voting Green, please know this: They not only want to legalise all drugs, including crack and heroin, but also to “create a 'direct partnership' between the Government and South American drug cartels to introduce a 'sustainable supply of coca and cocaine' to Britain”. They want to teach primary school how to take drugs “safely”. All this is official Green Party policy. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…

1) legalisation will save lives. Hard drugs would be prescription only for those already addicted. This would eradicate street gangs and traffickers. 2) coca has been a major South American crop for years. It's already been imported in the west as a product for say, Coca-Cola, for years as well as prescription cocaine as anesthetics. 3) harm reduction and education is vital, and already happens You don't really know much about this topic do you Zia?
