This is sad. I know as a politician these companies are going to spend a billion dollars against me for saying it but 🤷🏽♀️ Pervasive gambling is not good for society. It turns life into a casino, traps people in addiction & debt, surges domestic violence, and fosters manipulation.

there’s a woman who died in the 1800s in the graveyard i often walk to. she and her husband are buried beside about a dozen of their babies who died before, during, or right after birth.
sometimes i like to talk to her when i visit to tidy their graves and pray for them. i wonder what advice she’d give me about motherhood, my faults, and my various trials. i always feel a sense of perspective after i talk to her that helps me to be a better, more patient, more cheerful, and more grateful mother.
i like to think of her as a friend of mine. i hope that someday we’ll get to be mom friends in heaven, surrounded by all of our babies.

I first met Alysa Liu on May 7, 2025, when I interviewed her before her fist pitch at the Cardinals game. SUCH a fascinating human. She returned to STL in January of 2026 for the national championships. She was a rock star with the hair to match. And now? Olympic hero.
